I'm falling asleep to Happy Songs for Happy People, and I was just curious as to which Mogwai albums are best, because I'm really digging their sound. Thanks :-)

pick up Explosions in the Sky too, better for falling asleep (in my opinion). Magwai is great, and I say Young Team as well.

Oh, you post rock noobs.
If you want a great record to fall asleep to get Hammock, the album being 'Raising Your Voice...Trying To Stop An Echo'.

Young Team is definitely my favourite. I'm starting to really get into post rock. I have a friend that keeps pushing it on me and I'm actually starting to like a lot of it, haha.

You should just list a ton of good post-rock bands here, because every suggestion you make is golden.

Gah, shut the hell up. Everyone knows about EITS. They're only the tip of the iceberg for post-rock.

and they are hard to fall asleep to, with all that start/stop loud/soft business. Sigur Ros does that job much better.

I'm not even close to the best person to talk to on here about the genre, but I can list several bands that I enjoy...
Heston Rifle
Mono
The Ascent Of Everest
Russian Circles
Do Make Say Think
Hammock
Unwed Sailor
Red Sparowes
Saxon Shore
If These Trees Could Talk
Neil On Impression
God Is An Astronaut
This Will Destroy You
Some to check out if you're getting into the genre.

i really enjoy all of those bands, but even they are really well known
robotic empire has some good post-rock
gregor samsa
windmills by the ocean
ghastly city sleep (which by the way has a member from City of Caterpillar)

My goal wasn't to try and list the most obscure ones out there.
Gregor Samsa is one of my favorites and 55:12 was near the top of my list for last year.

yeah i know you were'nt going for that
but i guess i was just trying to illustrate the point that the post-rock genre is way bigger than people think
for teh n00bs
there are other post-rock bands, other than GY!BE, EITS, and Mogwai

That was my point with my first post, people always drool over Mogwai and EITS just like I did, although I still enjoy them. I just want to let them know there are far more out there to start off with right away.

Thank you. Just because its the "tip of the iceburg" doesn't make it a bad band. By the way, mad props for putting God is an Astronaut, I am in love with them.

My avatar is my favorite post rock album and one of my favorite albums ever. Although I'm changing the avatar soon, then you can try and figure out where that one comes from.
