Haha...nothing like someone posting a ridiculous comment like that. I respect different views, hey i didn't really like circa survive that much at first. But, if you were even one bit intelligent you would know that they are at Brian Mcternan's studio in Maryland...and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to fuck with Brian...he has done really solid work with a lot of really solid bands.
Okay in response to the Anthony Green is God comment...yes he is amazing, but you shouldn't ever single him out from the band...the whole group of them is amazing and I bet you couldn't give me the first, much less, the last names of any of the other guys in the band.
Both of you need to realize they are just a band, doing their own thing, you can appreciate it or you can hate it, but just don't be so fucking dumb with what you think would be "cool" to say!

Juturna came out in April 2005. So when this comes out, it will be a little more than 2 years. When you consider how much these guys have toured during that time (ie not just sitting around writing like Brand New), that is damn good.

Anthony Green really isn't that good, I don't understand why everyone thinks he is. Technically he's an awful singer and live he is real flat, so I don't understand why you people think he's so good. To be a God or a great singer you have to be able to do what you do recorded on pitch... If you don't sing all the high notes, that's fine, but be on pitch. This guy is rarely on pitch. Get a clue, listen to As Tall As Lions and praise Dan Nigro if anyone cause he kills Anthony Green any day of the week and he is on pitch 95% of the time at shows. So really, I'm sick of hearing all this praise for such a mediocre dude. I hope this new Circa stuff is good, cause the new song I heard on youtube is pretty good, aside from Anthony Green's awful singing because he's pretty much reaching Ashlee Simpson status in that performance.

First off...they are an experimental band, so they mean to stretch the limits of music and guess what pitch is a limit (pitch can be a hindrance) . Music has evolved from gregorian chant into baroque and classical and now modern-day music, the relevance and defintion of pitch has been changed time and time again. Also, I dont think you understand what dissonance is. I think you are flawed in your basic understanding of music. Do you hate someone just because they are not like everyone else? I agree sometimes he does get off pitch, but most of the time it is due to the extreme emotion he puts into his music, should you really fault someone for that?
Find some shit out...look up some definitions and then get back to me.

Alright, well first off, i would just like to say that the only reason i decided to create an account on this website was to respond to this idiotic and uneducated responce. With that being said, i must say that you reall showed your ignorance by saying this. Sure, it is a vocalists job to sing on key. But have you ever wondered why Anthony has been doing what he's doing for such a long period of time? Have you ever thought why in gods green earth would people pay money to go to a circa show? and before i continue, allow me to ask if you have heard the song Suspending Disbelief, or Miracle Sun? Think about it. Like i said before, i agree with you, it is a vocalists job to sing the notes that he thought up in the first place. However, before you go running your mouth about a vocalist, make sure you've seen him live, and if you have, that you have seen them more than once. Now, on the same note (no pun intended), i would like to say that it not only a singers job to sing the songs, but also to contribute to the lyrics of a song, and i'm pretty sure i am not alone when i say that anthony green is a lyrical genious. In closing, let me leave you with some great words by mr. "Dan Nigro" and let you decide who is the true lyrical genious. "Their fires made a perfect view of what seemed to be your mouth."

Okay to respond to both of the people who read my argument and decided to defend Anthony Green. You're both completely wrong. Pitch is not a hinderance if you're not singing on pitch. Being on key is the most important part about being a singer. I didn't say anything about his performance on recording (other than the fact that his technique for singing in general is absolutely awful). With that being said do not even tell me that you think Anthony Green is an absolutely incredible singer if you've seen him live with a full band. A frontman, yes he's a great frontman. But no he is not an incredible singer, you're completely 100% off on that. Besides if he sang a couple of different melodies in the bands he's in respecitvely, that'd be pretty cool also, but he just sings the same thing over and over again.
Secondly: I've listened to experimental music a lot and people who are much more experimental vocally than Anthony (Tim Buckley, Jeff Buckley, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, The Mars Volta, King Crimson the list continues...) so I do know quite a fair bit about what it is to be an experimental vocalist and no, he is not one of the better one's.
Thirdly: He does write good lyrics I agree with you, I wouldn't disagree with anyone that made that statement. But I didn't say anything about his lyrics, I said something about his singing. His singing is awfully off key live with a full band (acoustically is a completely different story, he should just do acoustic stuff as far as I'm concerned cause he's much better suited for it, his voice is good but he uses it incorrectly in a full band setting).
Listen if you really think that I don't know what I'm talking about you can pound sand or suck eggs (whatever phrase would not get me a "real mature" ), because I know what I'm talking about. You need to learn to read what you're arguing against. Honestly, if you really think that pitch is a hinderance on music than you're absolutely an idiot because that is what makes music good. Dissonance is fine, but you can't be flat on a note. If you're flat, you sound bad, it's common knowledge. I've seen Anthony play with Circa twice in Philly which is their hometown as far as most of the world's concerned so it's a given that when you come home, be on y'know... And vocally he just wasn't there and Juturna had been out for quite a while at both those points (show at the TLA with Say Anything though they dropped off, and Warped Tour) so as far as I'm concerned, you can really just shove it.
Oh and if the argument is tired, honestly, then why is he still singing off key with Circa. Geoff was more on pitch when they sang Act Appalled together and Geoff is notorious for being an off key singer. Honestly all of you need to get over Anthony Green and listen to people who can actually sing before you make him out to be this singing God. His voice is no better than most people's only because he uses it incorrectly.

What the fuck is this American Idol?
He uses it incorrectly in your opinion...that's fine. But don't go out there making the basic statement that he can't sing, because he can, it's just not the way you like it to be, it's not the familiar and usual way all you goddamn people base every other band you listen to on. You ever wonder why there are bands like fall out boy and panic at the disco who have lead singers who sound exactly the same, it's because everyone hates change and would rather lay in the stagnant shit of a music scene we have right now.
thanks for responding though...this was fun!

First off, don't go acting like you know more about music than anybody on this page. I happen to play three instruments, as well as take voice lessons. Now, sure, a good singer can singe every single note that he recorded on cue, live. However, if i wanted to pay 20 dollars to go to a show to hear everything sound exactly as it did on the album, i would buy a copy of the record, lock myself in a bathroom, put the record on and beat my meat, much as you seen to do. A good performer will demonstrate his vocal skills live. A live show is for the vocalist to prove that he can do more than just sit behind a mike and belt out the same notes time after time after time.

But he doesn't do that, he's flat! Do you get that? Honestly, the fact that you play three instruments and take vocal lessons doesn't change the fact that he's off key off pitch meaning not only is he not singing well, but he's singing off key. A different key, not a dissonant key that works with what is going on with the band, just a key that has absolutely no relavance to the music being played. I just don't understand how you cannot understand what I'm saying. It has nothing to do with whether or not I know more about music or vocals than anyone else, it's just the sole fact that he's off the mark. How do you not get this really I don't understand at all, you make no sense, your argument is invalid by default.

This is true, and does deserve merit (all points; i play 17 instruments at a credible level and im 19) however, it all comes down to whether or not his singing is something you enjoy. I saw Circa a few times, and he does sing EXTRAORDINARILY flat. However, if thats something youre fine with, more power to you. If not, thats your perogative as well; no ones forcing you to listen to him or go to concerts. I still enjoy his performances, even though they arent perfect. All points raised have at least a little credibility (except for the bag of asses comment; are we in 3rd grade again?). Again, If you can wrap your head around what anthony is doing, you'll realize that, while he does lack in vocal prowess and technique, he's still an amazing musician.
amazing with a capital amazing.
