has anyone read petes new blog ?

inside old contries fast. the speed of light- or more like whatever lite-drinks keep us going. in london now. it is cold here. getting ready to do some shows. i only truly miss shows when we play one or two. after learning more and more about the leak- we are coming up with some new ideas to fix this situation. first- we want people to be able to see and understand our new record in the way it was meant to. i cant make the announcement that i am dying to make- but hopfeully we'll have it squared away by tommorrow and it can be made. i am excited for it. please be the same. please scream the songs the same. please dont go away. i know we begged you to look in to the sun last time and you hurt your eyes. we are going to be more careful this time. i hope you can see more than blacks shades on the dark that surrounds you. noone will be banned. we have spoken to our label. we are coming to compromises. we are happy that our songs move you. more on the first week of february soon. they say novemember spawned a monster but noone has any idea what feb. has in for store.

our label is freaking out at us about maybe pulling songs off the record or putting it out early and we think we came up with a far simpler solution for the time being. if youve downloaded a song- cause we know alot of you hxc fob have. please tkae a moment and pick a friend and give them their first chance to listen to fall out boy. someone who would never expect to like it. convince them. you are fall out boy for that 3 minutes and 52 seconds. keep being our ambassadors. we will keep telling dudes in suits to chill out. nobodies banned. nobody is getting in trouble.

you think a 13 year old understands the metaphors in his blogs? i read them and check up on them every week, im 19. he pours out his thoughts in this blog, its cool to see a bandmate as famous as him still pour his guts on an almost daily basis, and you can tell how hurt he is by this leak, its sad, but i think they'll be just fine.

woah Tate I don't get creds for submitting this ha. whatevs i don't care. you should approve the new warped news though, i'm sure alot of kids will be happy about Pennywise playing.

I posted this over on the boards a few hours ago, those kids had a problem that it ONLY recieved a 3.5, but personally I think that's quite an accomplishment - you have to realize Sheffield gets alot thrown his direction and he had to distinguish between the good and bad for the mainstream, for those that aren't fans, etc. At least Sheffield appeared knowledgable... Peterick & Lohan lmao. His only fault was messing up the lyric at the end of the first paragraph...

Also, I agree with whoever said it before, the surprise in Pete's journal entry is mos def the 3 shows / 3 citites / 1 day thing, it siad it on the promo flyer AP posted somewhere...

EDIT: and somebody beat me to posting the promo flyer.

sure tate's review was awesome but it didn't have this cheesy little gem:
On Infinity on High, they expose the secret life of boys, in hilariously bloodcurdling detail.

question about the one sheet thing...when it says the 'N' performance the weekend before valentine's, what is that going to consist of?
also, thanks tate for posting the one sheets, i love reading them. really.

same. i really like it too and will be purchasing one when it comes out. people need to give golden a chance.. its not cliche fall out boy, but thats why i like it so much. they did something different, that otherwise people would be bitching about them sounding exactly the same. i for one wouldnt want to hear another take this to your grave because then it would lessen the album as a whole. they did awesoe on this release.

"This Ain't a Scene" is a bold single, complete with sampled drums and a Nineties R&B hook that sounds like Montell Jordan's "This Is How We Do It."

Somewhere, I missed that in the song. Maybe I should listen more closely.

Great blog post from Pete...I feel bad for the guys that this happened, but Island needs to stop freaking out...the record will still sell and it sounds like Pete and co. have come up with a brilliant solution (the live EP) to ensure the hardcore fans (who are most likely to have the leak) still buy it. Major respect for these guys.

Thank god RS let Sheffield review the album - none of their other reviewers would have done half as good a job...I thought the review was very good until the final paragraph, when he went off on one of his tangents (Tate's review was better, but then Tate knows a LOT more about the band)...still, 3 1/2 stars is pretty much a 5 star review from RS for a "scene" record. I mean, we're not talking Bob Dylan here...or any other band that's been around 40 years and gets the automatic 5 star treatment.

The Lohan paragraph was beyond random and irrelevant.

agreed. i am really stoked about the score they gave but they spent too much time talking about lohan and not enough about the cd. and personally i dont think they gave patrick enough credit for his craftsmanship, they really are much more ambitious songs than their last effort and he should be praised for that.

Not a bad review. Way better than I expected and a much higher rating than I expected. But Babyface didn't produce I'm like a Lawyer...

side note: In Thriller is the Rolling Stone review the "took threes (stars?) across the board" reference?

Uhh... I'm about 99.9% sure Babyface did produce "I'm Like A Lawyer...", it's been mentioned in quite a few articles...

And I thought that review was pretty bad. Half of it didn't even have anything to do with the album.

Is Infinity on High a reference to drugs?

It's a Van Gogh quote. I read a really good explanation of it somewhere but at the moment, I can't think of where since I've read so much on this album. So for now Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infinity_On_High) will have to do, "The title is taken from a letter written by Vincent van Gogh to his brother Theo in 1888. In the letter, van Gogh describes his renewed health and the vigor it has instilled in his painting. The line that inspired the title is "Be clearly aware of the stars and infinity on high. Then life seems almost enchanted after all."

Not a bad review. Way better than I expected and a much higher rating than I expected. But Babyface didn't produce I'm like a Lawyer...

side note: In Thriller is the Rolling Stone review the "took threes (stars?) across the board" reference?

I said it in this (http://absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?p=5446942#post544694 2) post, but I'll post it again. FYI to all that were wondering which ones Babyface produced they are, "Thnks Fr Th Mmrs" and "I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears And None On My Fingers" (aka "Truth Hurts Worse").

And how could the RS review be referenced in a song that was written and recorded months before. Although in reference to FUCT or something else, it would make sense, I mean the beginning of the song is about covers stories and whatnot. Anyway, I still haven't been able to figure out that lyric...board, park, bar? It's the only lyrics I'm still debating.
