Fall Out Boy (http://www.absolutepunk.net/falloutboy) have announced (http://www.mtv.com/news/#/news/articles/1550711/20070124/fall_out_boy.jhtml) they will be including a free live EP, titled Leaked in London, with their new album when it hits stores on February 6th. The release date will not change - they'll just be giving away more music.

Jason Tate
01/24/07, 01:37 PM
Should put some (all?) of the the b-sides on the EP too.

I didn't know we'd have so much FOB news posted today -- or I would have put all the news posts together -- sorry about inundating you.

By now, you might be aware that Fall Out Boy's new album, Infinity on High, somehow leaked online over the weekend. What you might not know is what FOB's label, Island Records, plans to do about it.
You may have heard that the label was thinking about moving the album's release date up a week, from February 6 to January 30. And you probably read the reports on various message boards that FOB mouthpiece/bassist Pete Wentz all but confirmed that move onstage at a Friends or Enemies Tour stop in Atlanta.
Well, it turns out that none of that information is true, but that doesn't mean Island or the band will sit idly by while the album flows freely through the Internet. Instead, they're planning to sweeten the purchase-ability of Infinity by including access to a special live EP with copies of the album, news the band broke to MTV News International just hours after touching down in London to begin its European tour.
"We wanted to dispel a few rumors for everyone who's out there on the Internet and maybe has come to the conclusion that our record is coming out on January 30. It's not. The release date is still February 6," Wentz said. "And we're going to include a little something extra, a special little EP, as part of the package."
According to a spokesperson for FOB's management, the EP will carry the humorous handle Leaked in London and will be recorded Monday at the band's sold-out show at London's Hammersmith Palais. Everyone who purchases — or preorders — a physical copy of Infinity will then be able to insert their CD into a computer, opening up a special key for a free download of the EP through the band's Web site, FallOutBoyRock.com.
Downloads will begin February 6, which, just in case you weren't paying attention, is still the date Infinity on High will hit stores

I like this idea. I wonder if it'll be mostly new or mostly old stuff on the EP.

they're just trying to get people to still buy the album, haha.

what makes that funny? of course they need the album to sell, it's their job! if the album doesn't sell, Island will lose hope in them, and there is a possibility of them being dropped. but from the looks of things, this album is going to sell very well.

also to whoever asked if pre-orders get this as well, "Everyone who purchases — or preorders — a physical copy of Infinity will then be able to insert their CD into a computer, opening up a special key for a free download of the EP through the band's Web site, FallOutBoyRock.com." - MTV.com

Awesome news...yeah, they're just trying to make sure people buy the album, but I'm not going to complain about a free live EP. It's a classy move and a good idea.

And, although I'm not a big "buy records from Best Buy fan", it means pre-ordering from Best Buy now gets you the album, 2 bonus tracks and the live EP...with free shipping. That's a pretty great deal.

No doubt you'll have to download a proprietary player (that sends Island Records all sorts of information about your computer, how many times you listen to the songs, etc) in order to play said EP. . . which will no doubt be stripped of all DRM and available for download around noon on the 6th.

The scene FTW!!

Eh, won't work on many people who were disappointed on the album, but it's a nice bonus for those who were planning to. I don't see why they think this won't leak either (and I could personally care less about a live EP, I most likely won't listen to it much)

hahaha I laughed at that one....

Anyways, the hoards of teenage girls will flock to buy this on February 6th one way or another. I wouldn't be worried about the record not selling. They are one of the biggest bands, especially amongst that whole 16-25 range, around right now.

I'm going to laugh when the download code leads to a hi-res photo of the noodz though.

And get it in better quality without DRM, since GINASFS is a Japanese and European bonus track. Waiting for the MP3 and pirating it is honestly the better idea.

As for this, I liked the sound of it... until I heard it was digital. Fuck that, fuck DRM and fuck "digital downloads" - I want a CD, otherwise I'd just pirate stuff. Will be interesting how they sound based on my live experience with FOB.

Good question, because if the last album's b-sides were any indication, they might be better than what's on the new CD (which is really starting to grow on me, BTW).
I loved "Hand of God," "Austin, We Have a Problem," "The Music or the Misery" and especially "Snitches and Talkers Get Stitches and Walkers"... and these songs would've been much better than a few of the lesser songs off of FUCT.
