on topic: Italy needs to do something about Berlusconi, this whole thing of the country being rulled by the mob can't go on. It isn't good for the Italians and it also affects other EU countries.

Also, major prime-ministers in the EU are pretty bad and the fact that Germany calls all the shots don't give them a great deal of manuever... it's all so contradictory

I saw a news report about the vote of confidence last night on my phone, but I was half asleep so I didn't get a chance to read it. The protests and the amount of cops being beat down by protesters seems to be incredibly serious though.

I HATE HIM.
He's a hypocrite and a demagogue, the embodiment of all the italian stereotypes, he goes whoring with underage prostitutes, he has relations with members of Mafia (italian Mafia helped Silvio Berlusconi when he first won the elections in 1994), he's got some illegal offshore societies in Caribbean islands, he was on trial for corrupting judges. It sucks that my country is still ruled by this man.

the worst fact about this whole situation is that NOBODY has a remedy, NOBODY really elaborate an adequate alternative to Berlusconi. That's the real defeat.

He got the confidence by 2 two votes, just because he literally bought 3 members of parliament from the opposition. People shouldn't overreact that way but I understand that they're exausted of empty promises and worthless sacrifices. And meanwhile Italy is sinking, he only thinks about saving face and ass.

As much as I hate the guy the truth is even if he is taken down the mafia is still going to rule the country. More important than taking him of govern (and that is an important step of course) is to fight the influence the mafia has on the various branches of politics. The next person to get a hold on power will probably be easily corrupted.

As much as I hate the guy the truth is even if he is taken down the mafia is still going to rule the country. More important than taking him of govern (and that is an important step of course) is to fight the influence the mafia has on the various branches of politics. The next person to get a hold on power will probably be easily corrupted.
