Hawthorne Heights (http://www.absolutepunk.net/hawthorneheights) has fired their manager John Germanario and booking agent Jeremy Holgerson. You can read the newspiece here (http://hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi).
On top of Victory’s lawsuit against the band for signing an agreement with Virgin while still under contract, Hawthorne Heights has now fired their manager John Germanario and booking agent Jeremy Holgerson. Insiders are asking if the band is receiving bad information from its attorney, Dan Friedman, and making too many enemies in an ever-shrinking business.

Haha, really? I know that a lot of artists actually visit the site, and post, so I assumed he too did. Eh, whatever.

This band must be retarded when it comes to business affairs. If the lawyer convinced them to sign another contract when they were still under contact with Victory, shouldn't they have fired his ass first?

Is this ever shrinking business? Is that in terms of amount of people in the business? How many people reading this are either looking to get into, or are already part of the music business?

well, thats the thing, i book LOTS of shows and Jeremy Holgerson is a badassssss. He has a HUGE roster, i think if anything Hawthorne Heights did him a favor. nobody wants to work with all that drama

theyve got so much bad blood going on now, firing their manager and agent which is pretty bad, AND they thought they could just leave their label when they felt the need to, and signed to another one. I highly doubt after all this stuff this year nobody will want to work with them

i love the music though. = /

Victory is the one with the EXTENSIVE track record of treating bands poorly. I'll side with HH until I see evidence otherwise.

Nowisnotthetime
01/27/07, 08:38 PM
Many bands have screwed themselves by believing in someone who doesn't know what they are doing, whether it is a manager, booking agent, label, or band member. In this case HH is screwing themselves by listening to their terrible lawyer. Their booking agent Jeremy Holgerson is one of the best around. If you ask around, "people in the know" will tell you that Dan Friedman doesn't really know what he is doing. The only reason he has any clients is because he is HH's lawyer and they took him along for the ride, not because of any significant legal skill.

And I'm sure all this BS is worth it to sign to Virgin right? When the new Over It album has only sold 9,000 copies in 6 months (which is less than they sold on Lobster). That label rules.

I think in the end this isn't really about HH. Tony Brummel and Victory is the Enron of record labels and they need to get out of an industry that should be based around the art itself.

if you don't care about them, why post on something about them??

The only people who know what is actually going on is the band members. It is pretty bold to pass judgement when you aren't walking in their shoes. And by the way, March 1 is when they begin recording the new album.

i hope any band in a tight situation like this the best... and when they get out of this i hope their virgin release goes good. Virgin's starting to pick up more rock bands and good music in general and although i'm not a hawthorne heights fan, all the haters get on my nerves.
