View Full Version : Love...
Since theres no philosophy forums/boards i know about, ill just post some more stuff ive been thinking about.
Everyone thinks they know what love is, its that strongest emotion that causes us to do irrational, illogical, and sometimes incredible feats. We endure, struggle, fight, among other things for this thing we call love. Well, i was thinking about the incredible abilites man could harness if we were to harness "love". If we could force our brain and body to "love" something, to essentialy trick our minds, we can accomplish things that we only dream of.
But I am only looking at this from a analytical view. Im not considering the "soul" if we have one, so maybe I am wrong. But i cant help wondering....
On a completly differerent note, I was also thinking about the end of the universe. If we know that the universe is expanding, that means it has a barrier or border. an essential "end" to the universe. Is that humanly percievable? And what is it "expanding" into?

When I'm in love, the universe isn't the *only* thing that's expanding.

Wow, Sigh. You are genius. LOVE is overused. wayyy over used. I wish I was in love. but yeah, I have never used the word love lightly... i dont think I've ever told a girl that I loved her. but then again I havent been in a relationship in a while...

well most people, if not all have a different definition of the word. it means different things to different people so it would be hard to do what youre saying. in order to "harness love" you woudl have to know exactly what it is, know a definition of sorts. and even if you could do that, how could you trick your mind and force yourself to love soemone? if you started out knowing that you didnt love that person and tried to grow into it in order to "harness some superpower" you probably couldnt do it. becuase if you start out with a lie how could you ever know that what you felt for the person was love and not just what youre trying to feel? that doubt would probably get in the way of completely accomplish all kind of things with a sort of superpower energy.
well, anythings possible. I dunno, if love is just part of your brain functioning then it could be possible to trigger it. I think now im talking more on the lines of passion, people with passions for things strive to accomplish their passion no matter what. That can be an admirable trait. But if your morals do not allow you to scientifically engineer a passion, then i have no quarrel with you. Its just would be interesting, what if everyone had a passion for peace? or home-made pancakes? would their be less violence in the world?

if passion is what you mean and not love than maybe youre making more sense now. but passion is more of a come and go thing, in my opinion. so mayeb for a time if you found soemthing you were truly pasisonate about, mayeb you could do incredible things. for a while anyway. but eventually things will change and whatever it was before that got you so excited wont do it for you anymore. im not saying wake up and tomorrow its gone, it coudl take a while, but eventually passion fades. so when its gone then what are you going to do? are you proosing that people could have a perpetual zeal for soemthing, and when it wasnt there anymore it could be recharged or replaced?
and i dont know if i have any morals. ill get back to you on that..
i was thinking actually this could fall along the line of zealots and fanatics now that i think about it. They were raised with a passion for whatever there belief. And they would do whatever it takes to do that. Wow i think what i said can be pretty bad.... mm well just get one of the political minds on this board to look it over maybe.
Mine was just harmless thinking though. I was just thinking about how i drew a piece of art for a girl, and it took a month of concentration, and it became something wonderful that i could never imagine creating with my own hands. And i thouhgt if i only had that drive in other parts of life.... I dunno its all just wishful thinking maybe
"love" pisses me off.... i'd rather just love my friends....
