‘THE KILL’ WILL NEVER DIE:

30 SECONDS TO MARS

SETS MODERN ROCK RADIO RECORD

Certified Platinum

Virgin Record’s Album ‘A BEAUTIFUL LIE’

Rolls On With Video/Radio Hit ‘From Yesterday’

Band Co-Headline ‘Taste Of Chaos’ Tour 2007

NEW YORK – With a record-setting run of 50 weeks on the Billboard Modern Rock airplay chart and counting, “The Kill,” by Virgin Records platinum rock quartet 30 SECONDS TO MARS is now the longest-running hit in the history of the Modern Rock chart, which first started monitoring in 1988.

“The Kill,” was the second single from the certified platinum release A BEAUTIFUL LIE, the band’s second album, which came out on August 30, 2005. Combining a passionate performance and imagery that paid homage to the Stephen King / Stanley Kubrick film classic The Shining, the video clip of “The Kill” won the band a series of awards and nominations from MTV, FUSE, mtvU, and Billboard. The smash hit peaked at No. 3 on the Modern Rock chart.

Having been touring since before the albums release, making stops on Warped, Bamboozle, Lollapalooza and headlining the MTV2 $2 Bill Welcome To The Universe Tour, it should be no surprise that 30 SECONDS TO MARS is marking this new career milestone when they co-headline the Rockstar Taste of Chaos Tour, which will take them coast-to-coast through the United States and Canada through early April.

The current single by 30 SECONDS TO MARS, “From Yesterday,” maintains its dominant position in the Modern Rock Top 10 and is continuing to climb the charts. The Fourteen-minute epic short film / video of “From Yesterday,” was the first American music video shot entirely in the People’s Republic of China. “From Yesterday” was, like “The Kill,” directed by reclusive Bartholomew Cubbins, framing a cast of hundreds of warriors, acrobats, eunuchs, and even fireworks in a massive, expressive display of art, culture and storytelling.

The Rockstar Taste of Chaos tour kicks off February 15th in Everett, WA. They will also be doing other headlining shows throughout the country. See dates below.

They're a really hard-working band who tours non-stop, they care a lot about their fans, and both of their albums are solid efforts and better than most radio rock out there. True, Jared Leto does seem to have quite a bad temper and it is pretty damaging to their image from my perspective (although one of my friends posted a MySpace bulletin about how much he kicked ass for jumping after Elijah Wood, so what do I know?), but the musicians have some interesting material and put on a great live show. Like another member pointed out above, I do wish Jared would sing more of the songs instead of just letting the audience take over. He has that rock star presence on stage, but he need not let it go to his head.

I actually really enjoyed their performance @ Bamboozle Left. That was awesome how he went up the rafters and everything like that. Really solid set, and afterwards went over and bought the cd. Good stuff.
What was solid about it?
You mean how he climbed it all bad ass rock star style but didnt jump like a real rockstar would do?
Or do you mean how he made the crowd sing most the set?
Or do you mean how he said if he could play in So Cal every single night he would?
Or do you mean how I watched him do all three of those things a week prior in AZ and say the same statement to fans in AZ?

Im just bitter because he doesnt sing, because i do think he has one hell of voice when he actually does sing.

also, i think the first 3 songs on the CD give you false impression about the rest of the CD.

Are you serious? he actually says that the town that he plays in that night is his favorite even though the night before that the other town was................................ ...........that has never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever been done before. I hate to break it to you but i bet more then 1 of your bands have done the same thing, just a quick tip : they do it to get the crowd going........and it works.

by the way, he also lets the crowd sing the song to include them, it may not be good if your watching a live video but its good if your there.

IMO they deserve for the shit they have to go through with jared leto being a lead singer and an actor. way to much haters and way to less of people who know what they are talking about.

Hmm most bands i know will flat out say their hometown is there favorite. Or theyll say the town theyre from sucks because theres not much of a music scene there. either way if i was an artist i wouldnt lie to my fans.

And there a HUGE difference between singing WITH the crowd and just sticking your mic out towards the crowd, HUGE.

“From Yesterday” was, like “The Kill,” directed by reclusive Bartholomew Cubbins, framing a cast of hundreds of warriors, acrobats, eunuchs, and even fireworks in a massive, expressive display of art, culture and storytelling.

i might agree with you, but as a staff member, show some class.Musical talent and whether or not someone personally likes a band are two different things. No one seems to grasp that.

The Mars Volta have musical talent. I don't like them. That doesn't necessarily make them shitty.

Thus goes 30 Seconds to Mars. Jared has a great voice and a capable band backing him up. They are excellent performers, and appeal to a lot of fans. The fact that all these people are coming in here just to claim how shitty they are shows the amount of ignorance here. The fact that Leto would pretty much give up his acting career to do this says something about the guy; he's doing what he wants and loves. Instead of pulling in seven figures acting in movies, he's out busting his ass with a band that has now sold over a million copies of their latest album.

That From Yesterday video that I have to see every day at the college cafeteria is an atrocity and proves how much of a vain, egomanical jackass Leto is. This band deserves it. I remember seeing them play 4 years ago in a small venue in San Diego, to hardly ANY kids. After the show, Jared was the only one who stuck around and hung out. Their set was great, he sang the WHOLE thing, and sounded as good on stage as he does on record. And, that was singing to the first album's songs, which are arguaby even more massive sounding than the 2nd record. The band can play, and the dude can sing.

Musical talent and whether or not someone personally likes a band are two different things.

Nothing I say will change anybody's mind. But perhaps some of these people talking shit should go ahead and tell us how many times their albums have gone platinum.

exactly. more people need to realize this.

Meh...I never quite understood the hype behind this band. What they've been doing has already been done to death by other bands years before them and much better I may add. Oh well...I guess Im in the minority if the song is that popular. congrats.

Would you rather Nickelback or Three Days Grace does it? Come on, be realistic. At least 30STM were on Immortal at one point.

i personally wouldn't want either of those bands or 30STM to have that record. i'd rather have a, i don't know, GOOD band holding it? i would've rather seen JEW's "the middle" in that slot. or even "swing, swing" by the AAR. but not this song lol.

What radio have you been listening to? I live in SW Virginia. AKA Hillbilly/Fallwell country. Here, People consider Nickleback to be Modern/and or Alternative Rock. Yet Even I have heard this song on the Radio alot.

hearing the song has nothing to do with what i said.

the fact that THIS song is popular on the radio and setting records, instead of one of the hundreds of thousands of songs in existance that blow this song away, shows how pointless, not to mention irrelevant, the radio has become.

when 30stm are setting records like this, and not bands like, say, Jimmy Eat World, well, like i said, just proves how worthless radio is haha

The majority of the people in this thread wouldn't know musical talent if it ran them over with a truck.

Like it or not, Jared Leto and 30 Seconds to Mars have talent and mass appeal.

talent and mass appeal or not

fact: there are countless other bands out there making better music that are not winning this award.

bands who are better musicians.

bands who, if they were on the radio, would have even more mass appeal than 30stm.

Jared Leto is such a raging douche bag who is the epitome of douchebaggery and gives my fagina douche chills. if a douche could walk, talk, and mimic gerard way, it would be jarad leto.

If the arcade fire record doesnt do better than this album, i will possibly shoot myself.

is it me, or did anyone else seem really surprised by this? not in the sense they don't deserve it (debatable) but that it really didn't surface much? i guess not listening to rock radio or watching mtv in the morning is why, but still... i honestly didn't know the single/band was doing this well.
