I've had it since it first came out and still feel that the theatrical version is an absolute piece of shit compared to this version. Give thanks to Fox for cutting out the heart of the film to make it a length that would please the casual viewers.

Bumping this further, because I've been digging the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack lately (absolutely amazing), and it reminded me of seeing the Director's Cut a long time ago, so I got my roommate to order the DVD from Netflix; so excited to see it again. The difference is almost night and day from the theatrical version; the holes are all filled and everything makes more sense. BTW, there's a 4-CD set of recordings from the movie out there, which really expands the amount of music for the movie, and includes pieces that weren't included.
