i remember awhile back there was a thread about the "rub-off effect", where your siblings start listrning to your music. am i the only one who has that with their mom?

my mom listens to mainstream rock for the most part (saliva, good charlotte, disturbed, etc.) ... but on the last mix cd she made she put on some AFI. wierd.

hah! my mom likes them too; she says "days of the phoenix" is her favorite song. BUT, she always gets them confused with alien ant farm for some reason.

and i've caught her "dancing" when i'm listening to brand new.

my dad listens to classic rock, The Tragically Hip(canadaXcore) and he actually listens to Edge102(you Ontario people know what i'm talkin about) He likes Green Day too....its weird.

my brother listens to Rancid, The Casualties, The Exploited, The Ramones, and basically anything I listen to..rub-off effect like whoa.

My mom digs the poppier stuff I listen to, but she flips a switch when I listen to stuff like Thrice or Boy Sets Fire.

My sister, on the other hand, is always asking me for new bands to check out. She's a die-hard Dropkick Murphys fan, but I've managed to get her into other stuff like Brand New and Thrice. She's five years older than me, so I grew up feeding off of *her* music, like Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, and later bands like Nirvana and Weezer. Now the roles have been reversed. By the way, my sister fucking rules like no other.

my mom doesn't really like the stuff i listen to, except for maybe some of the lighter rock like mae or some brand new. my sister is a club head who listens to a lot of trance, techno, and "dance" hip hop (I HATE DANCE HIP HOP!...I mean like lil kim, missy, etc...i like rappers who rap for something!). At times she'll sing along to some of the stuff...and she puts some of my stuff on her mix cd's sometimes. my mom doesnt really listen to anything, its whatever me and my sister play she'll listen to. she digs slower brand new songs like Soco. she also likes yellowcard. my dad tolerates my music taste, but he does love the ramones and the clash. my sister (who is eight) on the other is a fuckin trendy bop. she loves avril, simple plan, and britney spears. yesterday i was on the comp and my wallpaper is brand new, and she said "hey is that good charlotte?"....urgh!

i wouldn't ever put on the music i listen to for my parents. they would die. they're afraid i'm turning into my cousin who loves rock. she's been training me since day one with aerosmith and guns n roses. i remember one day when i was 6 my cousin gave me a gnr tape to put in my gay little pink radio thing, and my mom found it and said that she didn't want me to listen to that music ever. that was bad. the most they can take is, like, simple plan when it's on the radio. the other day my mom was looking through my cds and was asking me about them, and my brother, who is a fucking little 50 cent worshipper, told her it was cult music and that i'm in a cult. now she thinks i'm in a fucking cult! what the fuck?
