View Full Version : left leaning?
ok I was just looking at political views of all the staff writers here and most are some degree of liberal. not bashing that stance because I personally have some liberal leanings...but I was thinking, shouldn't AP get a more politically diverse writing crew? I counted ONE writer who said his views were conservative (moderately, at that). again, not saying I dont like liberal writers, but why not add some conservative to balance out/spice things up?

haha, I feel as though they can ruin friendships/relationships as well, since we hold political beliefs as close to our own values. Just this past weekend, my grandpa kept mentioning how he only watches Fox News. I didn't get into a political discussion with him, but cringed when he mentioned it. Yet, the extent to his discussion was how a local anchorwoman for a Pennsylvania news station is now one of the top blonde Fox News personalities (I forget which one since I don't watch Fox News).

I tend not to watch the news too much anymore simply because everyone is biased, and where you get your news from matters a lot. I don't like to talk about politics with anyone, so I don't follow it either, I find that life is a lot less stressed and easier when you don't follow politics. And the only reason I would watch the news is if I were to see a hot anchor, you know how it is hahahaha.

I think conservatives lie a lot more then liberals do but both are guilty of fabricating the truth. You can never have to much left wing opinions in a dominated right wing media. Then clearly you don't watch much tv or listen to the radio.
The amount of conservative radio stations compared to liberal media stations has to be at least 10 to 1 if not 100 to 1. No joke.
An easy example of why the media is so much more conservative is simple. Who owns these media outlets? Rich corporate elitist. And outside of Warren Buffet I don't see too many rich corporate owners that are not hardcore on the fiscal right. I mean look at your local television news channels. Fox, NBC, CBS etc. How often is there a story about Obama? 1-2 a week? And only when it is something big happening. When Bush was president he was on the news everyday! They would all cover his press conferences and cover everything he did and said and where he was.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/13/projection.explainer/ The process of projecting races begins by creating a sample of precincts. The precincts are selected by random chance, like a lottery, and every precinct in the state has an equal chance to be in the sample. They are not bellwether precincts or "key" precincts. Each one does not mirror the vote in a state but the sample collectively does.
Random sampling ensures that a sample, even that small, can be representative of the entire population. Educate yourself.
