After last year's victory, John K. Samson of The Weakerthans (http://www.theweakerthans.org/) is once again partaking in the CBC's Canada Reads (http://www.cbc.ca/canadareads/index.html), which is an "All-Star Edition" this year. He is defending Lullabies for Little Criminals (http://www.cbc.ca/canadareads/books.html#lullabies) by Heather O' Neill.

i want civil twilight so bad.
I hope the anticipation doesn't make this album a letdown or anticlimax. I find it's rare for a band to make their best album once i've got into them.

Their new stuff that they played live last year was excellent.

can't wait for the new album. for those of you on oink, there is a folder with soundboard recordings of their new songs. i haven't listened to them much, but my first impressions were that they're okay, but not their best work.

Holy shit. That's quite the lineup for Canada Reads. I think it's going to come down to Stephen Page and John. Page will win, though, if he doesn't drink too much wine the night before.
Thanks, theyre one of my all-time favorites and have influenced most of my music taste today. Cant wait for the new album, I think Sampson is one of the best song writers of this era, yet I always feel in the dark about them.

less reading more music!
That had to be the most disheartening thing I read all day. And that's saying something, as I snagged myself a free copy of the National Post this morning. Jesus.

Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm not a fan of literature. I just don't like when it gets in the way of new music from bands I like. ;) PS- loved the post crack.

If you say so, the whole agriculture thing really isn't my scene. ;)
