But AVA's songs all sound the same, have mind-numbingly bad lyrics that try to be intelligent, cheesy uses of gimmicks (morse code, toy piano), contain usually one minute of repeated riffs that fans think are 'epic' (though they are just annoying and mundane) at the beginning of almost all of their songs, have no 'up' value (the songs never go anywhere)....I could just go on and on.

The point is, if AVA wants to get really big and branch out of just their core fanbase (kids who worship Tom Delonge and, in turn, worship We Don't Need to Whisper) they are going to have to do better than what they are doing.

We Don't Need to Whisper is an album that stays at a constant pace for fifty minutes without really going anywhere. I can at least say that When Your Hearts Stop Beating has some great climax moments that I really enjoyed, though.

We've been wishing for the death of GC for a long time, and I think after their next album they'll break up anyway. Hopefully the thirteen year olds that started with their first album will wake up from the complete slumber of shit and move away from them.

As for AVA, they aren't really that big. Big is getting constant radio and video play, as well as selling a shitload of records (We Don't Need to Whisper sold well, but highly far from what Tom was probably expecting, and the album hasn't sold that well since the first three weeks of it coming out). After 'The Adventure' (which was their biggest song thus far), they had to choose 'Do It For Me Now', which received some airplay, but quickly dropped out. I'm pretty sure if they were big, the other singles they have put out would actually get some play, but they don't. After the first month the record came out, I think people just ditched the album.
