View Full Version : KKK Revival

The Ku Klux Klan, which just a few years ago seemed static or even moribund compared to other white supremacist movements such as neo-Nazis, has experienced a surprising and troubling resurgence due to the successful exploitation of hot-button issues including immigration, gay marriage and urban crime. Klan groups have witnessed a surprising and troubling resurgence by exploiting fears of an immigration explosion, and the debate over immigration has in turned helped to fuel an increase in Klan activity, with new groups sprouting in parts of the country that have not seen much activity.

I don't understand. Why? Because I will no longer see this and will therefore no longer be sick? Or was that a tongue-in-cheek way of saying that it is worse in Canada?
I suggest you move to Canada.
It's not that much here. In small towns, there is the exact same mentality. Especially out West.

The point is, the policies of mainstream American parties has engendered hatred and consequently the revival of a group which was made irrelevant. This should be proof enough that there needs to be access given to other parties.

I was just joking because Dom and I always joke about him moving to Canada. Of course I didn't mean that it's worse here. I actually meant the opposite.

Shit, I meant to put "it's not much better here". Because there's lots of it. A guy in my high school wore a KKK outfit to school on Halloween and it took a while for anyone to kick him out.

I'm sorry but that should be illegal.
I know it's unconstitutional to say that, but that's just totally wrong in every way.

making the kkk illegal would only empower them. it'd further this bs idea that the government hates white people, which would help those on the fence to join the kkk to go ahead and don the white robes (i mean, the fact that you're considering joining the kkk would say a lot about you to begin with). it would also give the kkk incentive to go underground, which could lead to a surge in new groups that wouldn't necessarily banned.
for empirical proof of my reasoning, you need only to look at europe where there is a huge resurgence in neo-nazis, yet neo-nazis have been illegal for years.
banning the kkk would force the members to go underground and create a "non-racist" group that advocated the same thing.
don't believe me? my parents live across the street from the regional leader of another hate group that advocates the same thing the kkk does, only in a more subtle way. i found this out when i was almost arrested because my neighbor found out a crime had been committed in the neighborhood and phoned the police saying i was acting suspicious. what was i doing? hanging out with one of my black friends in my front yard.

Neo-nazi groups are not illegal here. We have the British National Party, that is essentially a neo-nazi party, as it used to be part of the National Front.
There are plenty on neo-nazi groups sprouting up in what used to be East Germany actually.
I have a massive interest in neo-nazi culture. It just intrigues me.
Banning neo-nazi groups would be an infringement of free speech, and whilst I don't agree with what groups like this do, they can't just ban them because they do not agree with their opinion.
The thing that bothers me most about white supremicist groups is that the fact that they have to beat up black or foreign people for no reason. That kinda shit makes me sick.

if the kkk and the black panthers were given a bunch of land in the midwest (u.s.) and had a war i think something might get accomplished.

i realize that, but they produce racial hate as well. they did it in a much more political sense while the kkk took what thought was right and burned things and hung people.

The Black Panthers were not a racist organisation. Many of their alliances were with revolutionary organisations that were primarily made up of caucasians. They are simply castigated because of their belief that a fundamental change in society was necessary in order for justice for all people to established.

To assert that the Black Panthers resemble the KKK in anyway is completely ignorant...
it's apples and oranges...
The Black Panthers were founded on the principles of its Ten-Point Program, a document that called for "Land, Bread, Housing, Education, Clothing, Justice And Peace," as well as exemption from military service that would utilize African Americans to "fight and kill other people of color in the world who, like Black people, are being victimized by the White racist government of America."
While firmly grounded in black nationalism and begun as an organization that accepted African American membership exclusively, the party reconsidered itself as it grew to national prominence and became an iconic representative of the counterculture revolutions of the 1960s. The Black Panthers ultimately condemned black nationalism as "black racism" and became more focused on socialism without exclusivity, instituting a variety of community programs to alleviate poverty and illness among the communities it deemed most needful of aid, or most neglected by the American government.
The Black Panthers, focused on civil rights and self defense, were a group born from hundreds of years of abuse and slavery...
the KKK on the other hand was founded in 1866 by veterans of the Confederate Army, its main purpose was to resist Reconstruction, and it focused as much on intimidating "carpetbaggers" and "scalawags" as on putting down the freed slaves. The KKK quickly adopted violent methods. A rapid reaction set in, with the Klan's leadership disowning violence, and Southern elites seeing the Klan as an excuse for federal troops to continue their activities in the South. The organization was in decline from 1868 to 1870 and was destroyed in the early 1870s by President Ulysses S. Grant's vigorous action under the Civil Rights Act of 1871
They again rose to prominence during the 1920's, preaching racism, anti-semitism, and hate in general, they served no broader social purpose and had no positive political asperations and the KKK's membership declined after world war II because of various members involvment with the Nazi's...
Look... the KKK was born from the racist conferderacy, adopted the views of Hitler and are now gaining momentem from George W Bush's campaign of fear against the muslim community and muslim nations...
and please don't make the mistake of thinking that the Black Panthers are even in the same league as the KKK... it's apples and oranges...

We have had an alarming number of B.N.P candidates winning seats in local government elections during the last few years, how long before we see them in power at a national level? It scares me.

If you are going to just quote straight from wikipedia, atleast make it look like its actually quotations instead of trying to act like you wrote that.
