He came over to where we were at many times, we got stuck behind on the other side of the piano away from Andrew so I couldn't see much more than above his nose when he was actually playing but the amps were really close and they had yellow sections marked off where Andrew came to stand. I actually got to touch his hand at one point when he was standing on an amp and at another point he actually came and sat, right on the amp for a couple lines and he is probably the most entrancing person I've ever seen in concert, he demands your full attention and he knows he'll get it. His vocals were spot on and he was very in touch with the crowd. I forget what song they did exactly but they played with a big kind of a Bass that you have to use a Bow for, I forgot the exact name.
Andrew just totally killed it and they played the song that they recorded in Shoreline, I don't remember what song it was exactly. I remember they were playing Bruised and the floor was Bouncing as the people jumped. I remember the piano bouncing and the lights, the silloutte from the lighting they had. One of the more funnier bits was before Andrew and the rest of the band came out one of the crew brought out a thing that looked exactly like a Corona bottle and plugged it in (Corona is a kind of beer).
Here's some other interesting bits of what Andrew said during the show at one point or another:
People were yelling for Konstantine and he finally said something to the effect of, "No I'm not gonna sing that, but I will take you out back after the show and fucking kick your ass." So he's sitting at the piano, and says, "...I've been in two different bands, I've been fuckin up I've been down, but you guys stay here and thank you from the bottom of my heart. There's a handful of real things in this world and we all have em, each person you realize it... over the years, the things that are real to you. The things that actually mean something to you. And I don't know if you all know this but this means something fuckin more than you'll know, this is my god, this is my fuckin heaven. I thank you for coming out tonight, I thank you for being a part of the shows, I thank you for just being a part of my world, cause I wouldn't have a world if it wasn't for y'all."
Then he talked about how the record company said, "I think we just need another good song." And Andrew said, "That's the kind of thing that makes somebody who write music pissed off, like 'go fuck yourself, you know I wrote all the songs I can write, fuck you'...but in their defense, I had some more songs to write. And so I thought about all the things I could write about, I thought about the friends that had pulled me through what was a hard year at the time. And I wrote this song and the lyrics kind of change, and things sort of changed as we developed the song but originally it was just me and Bob, and we found ourselves in a fuckin motel room in El Paso Texas in the middle of a tour, recording this song onto the Apple version of Garage Band -- I figured since this album has been out so long I would play you sort of the beginning of what was Jack's Mannequin just a little different version of the song you might know La La Lie."

It more or less went MFEO & You Can Breathe ----> With or Without You ----->Back to You Can Breathe.
Maybe I should've made that more clear.

Yup, some very, very, ear-ringing solos.

what did head automatica and the audition play?
Jesus christ. I left two songs into the Jack's Mannequin set. I thought he was fairly horrible, honestly. And I loved all the stupid jock kids who were talking shit because I was DANCING TO HEAD AUTOMATICA (omfgzzz, dancing to a dancy band! WTF!) and singing along, but then half an hour later were singing DARK BLUE DARK BLUE! HAVE YOU EVER BEEN ALONE IN A CROWDED ROOM, WHEN I'M HERE WITH YOUUUUU!!!! Ugh. Whatever.
Anyways, HA (as far as I remember) played:
At The Speed Of A Yellow Bullet
Dance Party Plus
Graduation Day
Hard As Mud
Lying Through Your Teeth
New Song
Laughing At You
Nowhere Fast
Scandalous
Beating Heart Baby
The Razor
I Shot William H. Macy
I might be wrong on the order a little bit, but I'm pretty sure that's about right. Real nice mix of new and old, too!
I'm not totally sure on the Audition, I'll try and get back to you on that one.
Head Automatica ALWAYS puts on a great show, though. I love Mr. Palumbo.
Maybe Jack's Mannequin just had an off night or something, I don't know. Or maybe he just sucks when he comes to Seattle. Because, I heard the last time he was in town he kinda blew, too.

I think your ears are broken. He sounded exactly like the fucking CD
My ears are broken?
Watch it with the insults, buddy.
He definately did not sound just like the CD.
Furthermore, I would have been equally pissed if he sounded EXACTLY like the CD. Why the hell would I pay to hear something that sounds exactly the same live as recorded?
Something sounded off/bad/something. It's been a few days, and I didn't stay all that long, so I'm not sure what exactly it was. But it was definately something. Apparantly I wasn't the only one who thought so, either, since I saw a few other people leaving The Showbox with less than pleased expressions on their faces.
holy fuck people. you two are ridiculous.
it was a show... hold your own opinions, and leave others to theirs.
fuck this site blows because of people like you two
Excuse me for asking, but how exactly am I rediculous?
I in no way insulted anybody directly. Nor did I even make a veiled insult at the guy who insulted me. I stated my mind, nothing more... nothing less. I think you're overreacting and making this out to be something that's more than it is.

:shake:
you just need to state your point in a more mature manor...
That's kind of a silly reason to say that I'm rediculous. For that matter, "fuck this site blows because of people like you two," seems like an even less mature way to state your point... not only did you use "blows" in the same matter that I did, but you also threw in a "fuck". I fail to see how I make the site suck, but you don't. Not to sound like a dick or come of making a bad impression... but it just seems pretty hypocritical. Especially when I'm stating my own experience coupled with the experience of others I know. I see very little diffrence between what I said and "According to hearsay and personal experience, Jack's Mannequin has a stage performance that leaves something to be desired, or else the experience of myself and others I know are outliers of their overall performing abliity that have only occured in the Seattle reigion," unless I'm at all trying to be professional or show someone that I'm at least a half-way competent writer. Seeing as this would appear to be a very casual forum, I figured neither would be needed.
God. I really do sound kind of like an asshole.

Yeah. It's ridiculous. haha.
I'm sorry I said it that way man, but he played nearly flawless here in Portland and I have seen him multiple times...I'm really confused on how he could be that much different in Seattle just a night before.
I think he sounded dead on, and I like when he dances on his piano and has a great light show. I just dont know how you think he leaves something to be desired, but I guess we are expecting two different things.

It was an awesome show. Andrew was sick, their tour manager was running around looking for Sudafed but you can't get it in the state of Oregon without a prescription.
to be fair... if i saw JM i would get pissed off too. cause SoCo>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>JM
so if i so Andrew on stage i would get all excited forgetting this was JM. then when they started a JM song i would flip shit and leave as well.

i thought the show was amazing. i saw jm with panic... and it was alright i mean it was more of a panic show but like being in the showbox (seattle) was amazing because it's a lot smaller and idk the sound was amazing. like the show was just soo fuckin good like a week later, i'm still raving and i prob will be raving for the next 30 years of my life. we can prob all tell who's a die hard fan from this and who's not. head automatica was pretty good too. the audition i had never heard of before so that was like hmm and then Get Back Loretta was so great. i had no idea who they were when they were performing and i dont think anyone else did either but it was a great performance. they have some catchy songs. yeah back to andrew....his cover of "message in a bottle" (police) is really good which is probably why he keeps doing it. like it sounds good. also heroine was amazing. la la lie live is so good, like everyone tried singing along to it but he changed around some words so the audience kinda ruined it lol. also when the song "last straw" came on....ugh i can't get over how outstanding it was. like just to be there, and when the song came on, no one made a sound, the room was silent just like we all knew how beautiful the song was and for that moment we were all just fans of music. it didn't matter if you like jacks mannequin or not but i just can't even describe the feeling. so pretty much, in my opinion hella good performance i'm not sure if he was sick but to me, that says he was good. any time you can't tell if any artist is sick or not, usually means its a good show. =]
