i just built mine it has cost over 2 grand. depending on what you are familiar with in recording programs, i'd recomend pro tools and digidesign mbox. it costs about 450 but without any teaching of protools it can be confusing. i took a class at my school for recording and we used pro tools and digidesign 001. The problem with the mbox is there is only 2 inputs for mics and it can be a pain once u get to drums so that means u have to buy a set of drum mics and mixer since there isnt enough space in the mbox. i'd also recomend a lot of good acoustic foam or tile. i'm thinkin of eventually just building a vocal booth cause of what i have to do to get rid of the echo. if u need any more help just im me at xalkalinetrio45. i think www.homerecordingstudio.com is a site, i'm not sure. the things u want to get and the things that u need just keep on racking up, trust me

71 bucks might get you a mic stand and a mic chord

yeah but it would sound like shit. u also have to figure in the price of building the studio its self
yeah you would probably be alot better off making your own studio you would get your moneies worth i am sure and plus the fact that your usage of it alone would be worth of it...unless you suck
