Communiqué - Walk Into The Light
Release Date: October 17, 2006
Record Label: Sabot Productions
Who?
Oakland post-punk quintet who have shared the stage with Against Me!, My Chemical Romance, and more in support of their 2004 full-length debut, Poison Arrows
How Is It?
Punk with splashes of dance and new-wave inspirations is not a new idea, yet rarely is it done with this much precision. A completely self-produced effort, the band’s danceable-yet-dark sound is epitomized on opening track “The Sad Valentine” and remains consistent for all five tracks of the EP. Loopy keyboards add dashes of character to their dark grooves, particularly effective in “Wake Up Wake Up.” Though the length is short, it just makes the wait for their second full-length that much longer.
Notable Tracks: The Sad Valentine, What’s Been Lost, Got Your Number.
Recommended If You Like: Hot Hot Heat, The Faint, The Killers.
