Does anyone think that NASA will keep going? I think this (http://i.cnn.net/cnn/ALLPOLITICS/analysis/toons/2003/05/11/mitchell/09a.gif) pretty much sums it up: it's no longer a priority. It used to be important for competing with the Soviets, but now many see it as useless. So much for progress:rolleyes:

I think the point of that cartoon was to poke fun at Bush's economic policies.
But I'm sad to see that people think NASA is obsolete. Whatever happened to scientific progress and thinking fot the future?

NASA has been a very important factor in the expansion of our scientific knowledge, and will never become useless because there is an infinite number of new things to learn about the Universe.

much like anything else in our huge government, it needs to be audited yearly and it should have to prove where these billions of dollars it spends yearly, are going..........otherwise it needs to be scaled down it size or its funding needs to be cut back.....

i dont know what to ultimately think about it...i mean, if they think their money is being put to waste through nasa...then cut spending by all means. i have no real interest in whats in space anyways.

actually, NASA is one of the few finacially responsible government agencies. and it would be very sad to see it's funding cut back even more...i would love to see humans land on mars in my lifetime.

thats why europe launched a better quality rocket to mars, around the same time we did, for 1/4 the price.........no government agency is finacially responsible, theres no reason for them to be.........

of all the government agencies, they are one of the better ones at getting the most out of their money, their philosophy since the early 90's has been better, faster, cheaper. thats why they have switched from manned missions, to more remote probes, which are cheaper to produce, and if anything goes wrong, the loss is fairly insignificant.

Fuck NASA, we already know that Mars is a planet and that aliens aren't living on the moon.
