My Mom taped the news reports and kept all the old newspapers from back then, and when I tell you there was complete fucking pandemonium....There was...It was crazy...Supposedly he was after a specific type...Dark hair...Long, I believe...So everyone was cutting their hair and dyeing it...Craziness...

zodiac was sorta like son of sam in the aspect of the way he killed, he would walk right up to peoples cars and shoot them. and then write some fucked up coded letter to the cops and have them running around like chickens with there heads cut off.
there have been i think two serial killer that got away with it jack the ripper and zodiac. it is scary i live in california and my parents live in northern california.....but no new killings have been linked to him since the early 70's.

there were some serial killers that did shit a hell of alot worse than he did. in one of my classes we spent a good 2 months studying serial killers and he wasnt really anything special. we called him a "sellout killer" cus all he wanted was media attention. if you wanna hear some really scary shit read some books on serial killers and stuff.

i do read alot about serial killers and i agree there are a lot more sick fuckers out there. it wasn't that he was sick it was more of the fact that the cops couldn't figure him out and stop him. i think ed genies ( don't know if spelling correct) was a sick fuck who robbed graves and skinned the courpes. he only killed 2 people. they found so much stuff made out of human bi=ones in his house.

I was set on a carrer path to be a forensic psychologist at one point, which is why I'm a psych major now. You never know, I might end up being a forensic pathologist.

I was really interested in serial killers when I was in high school, but then I realized that the mass media coverage (books, A&E specials, etc) is complete sensationalism. Some of you sound interested in the topic, so I'd suggest you do some serious reading. Stay away from any pop psychology crap and try to find something a little more credible.

And on a side note, American serial killers usually don't hold their weight against the rest of the world. Our western society has made it more difficult to get away with heinous acts, and even the most disturbed people in our society have been indoctrinated against many social taboos. Jeffrey Dahmer was particularly nasty, but in comparison, many Latin American and even some European serial killers are much much much more sadistic (Pedro Alonso Lopez killed over 300 people in the Andes).

Consider someone like this in comparison to the Zodiac killer or Richard Ramirez

An ally of Joan of Arc during the Hundred Year War, de Rais was instrumental in driving the English out of France. He enjoyed killing mostly young boys, whom he would sodomize before and after decapitation. When he wasn't feeling up to the task he enjoyed watching his servants butcher the boys and masturbated over their entrails.

i remember learning about lopez and gilles de rais. there was also a guy in russia that was really bad. the worst was vlad the impaler but that was a long ass time ago. the grossest thing in my opinion was a guy (i forget which one but hes pretty famous) who wanted to make a perfect sex slave so he would pour acid into his victims ears hoping to kill the brain so they would basically become a zombie.

austrailia has had it's share of sickos too.....there was the backpack killer. there is anatoly onoprienko half-mad serial murderer roamed from place to place killing families and individuals and stealing their belongings, believing he was commanded by God. He ranks as one of Europe's worst murderers.
