new season kicks off thursday. anybody gonna give it a try this year?

i've never followed it before, but this year i'm gonna try to follow it from week one. with espn and abc doing the broadcasts, it'll be more accessible. but what i'm most interested in is mike greenberg and mike golic being the number one announcing team. they should be entertaining at least.

i've been trying to study up on the rosters. i need to pick a team to cheer for before thursday.

www.arenafootball.com (http://www.arenafootball.com)

there's two links in case you want to do the same. the main afl site is under construction as of today, but i'm assuming will be launched in the next few days.

this and nfl europe are pretty painful to watch sometimes, but if you put football on tv, i'll watch it.

To be honest, the games are fun live. The tickets are cheap, and they lower the beer prices. You can go and have a good time for pretty cheap. Plus the cheerleaders are all real hot. It's a good time if you want to go have a laugh, get a buzz on, and watch some OK football it's worth it.

yeah, that's always been my biggest beef with the sport. it's amazingly fun live, but it doesn't really transfer to television incredibally well.

i caught a few games in kansas years ago and always had a fucking blast. we just got an arena 2 team here in youngstown and i plan on going to quite a few games.

i'm hoping abc/espn can make it a little more interesting and can make the transition to tv a little better.

Ive been to a few NY Dragons games, And they actually sell more seats than the Islanders do, pretty sad. Its a decent time but I never really got too into it.

i'd only watch to see how mike and mike do.

from the clips of their rehearsals they play on their show in the morning, they're awful to the point it's funny.

You should be a fan of the Grand Rapids Rampage.

Damn it.

I forgot Sonny Cumbie was LA's QB. I'll also cheer for them, and a little for Dallas.

he's the first name i was looking for when i was searching the rosters. my plan was to do the same.

i just glanced at first though and haven't found him yet. i forget who he was on last year.

I used to watch arena football a lot in the early 90s. I'd sit on the top of my bunk bed and pretend I was there. I didn't have a lot of friends.

oh shit, my allegiance is torn between two black back up patriots quarterbacks

i guess i'll still cheer for bishop

FondestMemory
02/24/07, 02:09 PM
man, bishop's the backup. that's disappointing. the dude ahead of him at least has a pretty damn impressive resume.

i think kc might be my team. i'm not done studying them all though.

As I will give the video game a chance too, it was pretty fun

Yeah, I can't cheer for anyone, because I didn't know there was an Austin team.

So now I'd be cheering for Austin, LA, Dallas, and Grand Rapids.

tonight at 7 there's an hour long preview show on espn 2. seems like it could be kinda cool. it seems to be a little bit of history and also a preview for the upcoming season.

Yeah that's what is peaking my interest for tuning in at the start. They'll definitely make it entertaining even when games get out of hand.

i'm actually getting really excited about the season. the preview thing on espn 2 was pretty sweet. i already had a good grasp on the game, but it brought up a lot of things that i didn't know.

this year is the first year with free substitution, so not everybody has to play offense and defense. in the past, you've had an offensive specialist and defensive specialist, and everybody else played both ways. there's still an iron man aspect to it though, because rosters are still only 20 players, and you still need a backup qb, so a lot of players will still play iron man. i think this rule will greatly increase quality of play.

and adrien macpherson is the qb of the austin team. let's hope for his sake afl teams don't have mascots at the games.

haha. funny you ask that, he's actually on an afl2 team, which is basically the afl minor leagues. we have an afl2 team here, hopefully his team travels here this season.

remember when he signed with a cfl team and got released in like a month?

poor dude. i actually liked him. ya know, minus the drug problem.

LOL @ Bill Gramatica (the one that tore his ACL while celebrating a FG for the Cardinals) missing 3 extra points and 1 field goal for an AFL team (forgot which one) tonight. It was the entire highlight except for a QB bootleg for a touchdown.

yeah if I heard correct, he missed 5 and only made that 1...damn him he sucks...It is tougher though in AFL , only 9 feet instead of 18

i'll probably watch here and there...they've always been entertaining and it allows me some form of football when the nfl is done...plus the rush have to defend their championship
