Just got home from the Rise Against / MCR tour about 5 minutes and decided what better time to write a review then right now while it's still fresh in my mind.

I've been going to shows for 9+ years and have NEVER seen anything quite as theatrical as this. Not even Rod Stewart produced the same magic My Chem did tonight.. More on that in a bit.

The band i was looking forward to all night was of course, chicago's finest, Rise Against.
Seeing this band progress over time from small town no ones opening up for AFI to headlining tours to a nearly sold out arena tour, Rise Against only get better with time. Rise are the fine wine, getting better with age. Taking place inside the arena of Nassau Colisseum in Long Island, New York, I got inside 15 minutes before Rise were to take the stage. The stage seemed tiny with Rise's album cover (suffer and the witness artwork) as the backdrop. The RA logo (fist & heart) were beeming from a laser onto the backdrop. Then Rise hit the stage. First Tim, then all came out to cheering 13 yr children with mom and dad by their sides. For many it would be their first dose of RA and well.. seemed to be their first dose of a show/concert in general.....
Regardless Rise took the stage and I wish I could tell you the opening song but I was stoked to open up the floor and wild out that I completely forgot what it was. In the past Ive seen Tim preach and educate the crowd on social and enviromental issues, mostly animal rights and peta points, but not this time. Perhaps because they just wanted to cramp as much music in their 40 minute set as possible. There was a moment in which Tim encouraged the crowd to be themselves and never anything less than that. That was as political as the set got.

Songs for Rise Against include: (In no order)

-Survive
-Prayer of the Refugee *
-Injection
-Ready to Fall
-Drones
-Chamber the Cartridge
-Give it All
-Bricks
-The good Left undone

*(Closed with Prayer of the Refugee)

My Chemical Romance were up next. Here's a band I've personally seen play in front of 10 kids at a VFW hall then go to an arena sized room and still manage to play with the same integrity.
The set started with a hospital bed being wheeled on stage. Then the opening track begins and "Come one call all to this tragic affair..." sings Gerard as he raises from this bed with a robe on. Then...BAM as the song gets to the harder parts Gerard rips off the robe to reveal the Black Parade attire the rest of the band are wearing. With strobe lights and 2 gigantic chapel like drawings on a backdrop setting the stage, My Chem. went all out on production. This is a theatrical experience. It's definitely not your regular rock show..not at all! Bright Lights, Huge Zepplin balloons flying above, confetti blasters, to even PYRO (pyro is on the tour but was not used tonight due to the Great White club incident a few years back. Pyro needs to be ok'ed by the city 30 days in advance). Through the whole show, it was a hell of an experience overall. The Black Parade & My Chemical Romance played tonight. Both ARE seperate acts but the same band if that makes sense. The Black Parade is the theatrical side of MCR. I say this because tonight, after The Black Parade finished playing pretty much the entire Black Parade album, My Chemical Romance came back out for an encore which in fact turned out to be ANOTHER 45 minute set of classics from 3 Cheers For Sweet Revenge!

This is all I can tell you about the show as I got the boot for headwalking from the club.
Tonight I saw Rise Against & The Black Parade but unfortunetly missed My Chemical Romance..

Final conclusion, if you are going to this show, GET THERE EARLY!
This is an arena tour and security can be completely retarded slow. Rise Against go on at promptly 8pm at all shows. They are one of the few bands today that are making a change in this world. There will be a ton of screaming pre-teens but there will also be die hard Rise & MCR fans there as well. I cannot stress enough how Rise Against deliver and even though Chase is no longer their guitarist, they still put on a great fucking show.

Check this tour out. It's worth the 30+ ticket price.
Dance hard for Rise, and relax and enjoy the theatrics for MCR

are those the only rise against songs you can remember or is it true they played nothing off revolutions per minute, and only one of siren song?
