View Full Version : youth of america

ok, so it's not all that deep or personal, but i figured this had to be said.... again

YOUTH OF AMERICA

if my computer could fuck
i'd never leave my house
i experience the world
by the click of the mouse
i turn it on, turn off my brain
my face is like the screen
as i sit emotionless with a blank stare
i have become one with machine

is there anything for me
as a youth of america
persuit of life and liberty
replaced with billboards and hysteria
tell me what will be
of the youth of america
pizza, beer, tv
it's a way of life for me
just a number on the list
for the youth of america

there's a war going on out there
but it doesn't concern me
never gave a second though to a third world war
as long as i can see the top ten on MTV
tell me what to wear
and what to buy this week
and i'll take daddy's credit card to the mall
instead of finding answers to questions i seek

a world of pop-culture fantasy
forgotten dreams and dilluted reality
a victem of circumstance
blinded by a life packaged
for a mainstream audience
maybe one day
face will be on the screen
i wanna be a soulless cog
in a faceless machine

is there anything for me
as a youth of america
white picket fence like prison bars
trapped in suburbia
tell me what will be
of the youth of america
persuit of life and liberty
ritualistically killed on my TV
there's nothing left for me
as a youth of america

and war continues to wage
still i prefer just to turn the page
unless it's on MTV i don't really care
i've got nothing to do, and no time to spare
then one day i got a letter in the mail
but it wasn't from harvard, it wasn't from yale
'said: uncle sam wants me
to die for his country
just a living casualty
i'm the youth of america

*for those who would prefer songs with more of a personal meaning, i might post again later

reminds me of a poorly written p.o.d. song but hey its not deep and personal. it could use some work and maybe get cut shorter. its way too long.

thanks, i wrote it cuz alotta my friends were going to those internet cafe dealies instead of actually doing anything. i remember there was this big anti-war protest (iraq) in manhatten and all my friends said they couldn't go even though they were against the war, and well turns out they were busy playing counterstrike.

yea, i was thinking it's kinda long, but then i realized, i play in a punk band, the lyrics could be 10 pages long and end in 43 seconds if i sing fast enough. it's just gonna be hard to memorize, also keep in mind most of it's length is due to the fact that there's a chorus then a varyation, so i had to write it twice

Atleast you said that you didn't put much emotion into it, it is still horrible though. This song is also not "brilliant". Just like BuriedAlive said "poorly written P.O.D. song", or a possible rip off. Rip off without the Christian part they would use though. I hate it, don't do it again.

First off P.O.D song "Youth Of the Nation".

Second off I like the Used so what?

Also I'm voicing the opinion of what many want to say. The song is horrible.

if you're going to call is song horrible, we are voicing our opinion that the used is terrible.

what many want to say ? being...2 people ?

There are people in California with the opinion that the World is still flat. And they still believe that even though it is the year 2003. Does that mean they are right, no. Same applies to your song "Youth Of America" one idiot thinks it's good, but it's not.

By the way we aren't talking about The Used.

i think the used is a kickass band. and yes the song sucks. people have there opinions. so leave it at that.

well i haven't heard a single pod song since that annoying one on the little nicky soundtrack, not to mention i don't like religious music, i don't like new metal, and i don't like rap, so i don't see what pod has going for them that i'd want to rip off. not to mention the fact that even if they said exactly what i said, they are kinda very big on mtv, so i think they'd be part of the problem.

and yes, the used suck

haha, i just read the lyrics to "youth of the nation" by POD, and now, i'm not quite sure, but it seems to speak more about SUICIDE and SHOOTINGS than it does about the fact that people these days are to descensitized by TV, computers, and video games to do anything meaningfull, there's no such thing as socialogical change anymore, cuz people would rather sit on their ass and play counterstrike,- that's the topic of my song. the topic of POD's is basically high school.

so yea, as you can see, it's a blatant rip off

Why can't you just admitt your song is horrible?

i'm deeply hurt that you didn't like my lrics, i'm gonna go cry and write some emo songs about how my life sucks now. now if you would have said anything more than "your song sucks" i might care and i might have wated more time reading your post, but you obviously have no idea what you're talking about and have nothing of any importance to say, so fuck off and listen to the used.

this song dont resembled POD - Youth of the Nation except that they both say "youth"

i thought this song sounded like the next NOFX song, which in my opinion isnt good. i didnt like it

i like the message it sends across. true, the style and words used are a bit juvenile. but it says what you have to say. my wish: blaarg makes the song, shows up at a justin timberlake concert (although any pop or hip hop show would do just fine), screams the words into the faces of the thousands of mindless drones (gathered round to witness a boy who wishes he were a different race rhyme about 'booties' and sex)...and makes at least one child think 'hey...you know...that sounds a lot like me...maybe i should lay off the computer for a few seconds and go outside and try to find a life...' if i believed in god, i'd pray for it. all i have to say.

What is more to say? The song does suck! I don't believe I WASTED my time reading such a piece of shit. Do something better.

well this whole thing with everyone getting my song confused with POD made me think i should chose a new more original title.... the song is now called "Sweet E-Motion" and yes, it was necessary to post this

hahahahahahahahaha... i wish i could copy and paste enough to get my point across about how funny that is, considering how talentless the used are and how i've been taking private classes in music theory for over 2 years now and i know more about music than pretty much any band you listen to.
