Anberlin - 2.24.07 - The TLA

Review :
So this band was interesting. hailing from Mississippi, they opened the show and did a decent job. they were really dancey and fun to listen too. They played five songs (the first of which i dont know the name of). the crowd seemed to be really into " Man in a 3000 dollar suit" and "back stabber". they sounded dead on and did a good job getting the crowd warmed up.
Set List :

Man In A 3000 Suite
Back Stabber
Get Ready Hot Machette
Meg & Dia
Review :
They were interesting. I've heard of them before but never heard an actual song. My friend who i was with knew them well and named the songs as they played them. the crowd didn't seem to be feeling them all that much, but personally i loved "Indiana", "Roses" and "Monsters" the best. Dia has an awesome voice and she interacted with the crowd well. they just seemed a pit out of place to me, but i enjoyed them. Id say that they're worth your attention. The " Are you gonna be my girl " cover was really spot on and the crowd was into that, but that's about as far as crowds enthusiasm would peak for the set. All in all, solid effort by the Duo from Utah.
Set List :
Indiana
Roses
Masterpeice
Are You Gonna Be My Boy ? (Jet Cover)
Courage, Robert
Cardigan Weather
Monsters
Bayside
Review :
Philly has always shows immense love for Bayside. Tonight was no different. From the moment Bayside's backdrop (Depicting the Album Cover for "The Walking Wounded") was raised, Until the last riff of the final song, the crowd was loving it. Bayside did a good job of mixing it up, playing 4 new songs (which sound amazing live) and 6 older tracks. Personally, i would have preferred more new stuff, but the crowd didn't seem to mind the vintage Bayside. Songs like "Masterpiece" and " Devotion & Desire " were crowd favorites. I enjoyed "They're Not Horses, They're Unicorns" and "Evelyn" most. I've never been disappointed after a Bayside performance, and tonight did nothing to change that. Anthony sounded dead on and jack can shred with the best of them. I really found it intresting that their set list varied alot from the ones ive seen from the past three shows. Its anyones guess what they'll play next.
Set List :
They're Not Horses, They're Unicorns
Montauk
Dear Your Holiness
Duality
Evelyn (Existing In A Crisis )
Masterpiece
Blame It On Bad Luck
The Walking Wounded
Don't Call Me Peanut
Devotion & Desire
Anberlin
Review:
And finally, the reason we were all here. Anberlin was introduced by a member of To Write Love On Her Arms. He came out and spoke about his organization, and what they were all about. He then introduced Anberlin, and they took the stage ready to go. They played mostly new songs (rightfully so, having just released the amazing "cities" on Tuesday) and 5 old. Stephen has dynamic stage presence and is an great vocalist. All the instruments sounded dead on as Anberlin ripped through 12 songs.
My personal favorites were "Dismantle.Repair" and "Hello Alone". The new songs sound so awesome live. This tour couldn't have come at a better time for the guys, with their new CD out and all, they really look to be going places. They deserve everything that comes to them. The band put all their energy into what turned out to be an amazing show. This was one of the best shows I've been to in a while. Something about Bayside together with Anberlin just seems to click. I cant wait to see both bands again on warped. anyway, this show was rad. Check it out.
Set List:
A Whisper And A Clamor
Never Take Friendship Personal
Hello Alone
Readyfuels
Adelaide
Day Late Friend
Paperthin Hymn
The Unwinding Cable Car
A Heavy Hearted Work Of A Staggering Genius / Dance, Dance, Christa Paffgen
Dismantle. Repair.
Godspeed
Encore:
Fin'
All in All, an amazing show. I Highly recommend it.
