Kevin Barnes of Of Montreal (http://www.absolutepunk.net/ofmontreal) explains (http://pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/41366/Of_Montreals_Kevin_Barnes_Explains_ Nudity#41366) why he performed naked (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=215163) last week.
I always wanted to perform naked...it's kind of my concept, to bring world peace to the Earth if everyone had to stand naked in front of their peers once a month. I think it's good because it forces you to sort of come to terms with any sort of body issues that you might have and it sort of like cleanses your emotional palette.

Do whatever the hell you want--Of Montreal is a great band and they've always been completely nuts. I don't think anyone is going to get them to change anytime soon.

thats exactly it. The times have changed. Its just like comedian Lenny Bruce. In the 50's/60's Lenny was a very popular comedian but then got in trouble for saying "cock sucker" on stage. He lost everything fighting these charges. Cops would show up to every show and he would say it again and keep on getting arrested. He went from wealthy to poor all because he was fighting for his right to say these things on stage. Just think about how many times you go to a show and hear something similar. Its nothing now. You can say it at all ages show. I dont know if advanced is the right word but society grew to accept these things.
I recommend the movie Lenny. It blows my mind how much trouble he got in for something so little.

if the bar serves food minors can come in. if it is exclusively a bar usually shows there will be 21+ (though i do think i have been to a couple bar shows in my time that were all ages, though i don't know if that was necessarily legal. usually they checked ids at the door and marked minors or gave 21+ wristbands). in some cities in nevada (sparks i know for sure) the minors have to be a certain distance away from the bar at all times (10 feet in sparks) if it's a bar they are allowed to enter. i'm not sure about the city-specific laws for vegas (besides some that are irrelevant to this discussion). but really, it's vegas, if he were to get naked anywhere in the US that would be the place.

False, every bar and every venue, and every band, has every right to put as high or low of an age limit as they want.

i have a buddy who's hell bent on deciding when he's going to die, and how. the catch is: he's decided he will die on video tape whilst naked. his current choice on way to go is skydiving. i told him i'd never watch the tape, cuz i wouldn't want to see 5 minutes of his dick flopping around before he hits the ground. anyways, this reminded me of him, and that.

^ Yes But none that say if you serve food you have to let all ages in.
I mean, the majority of bars now-a-days serve some type of food, yet there not all ages are they?

yes, but in nevada legally, they can. i didn't say they must, i said they can. that's why the nevada clean air act includes bars that serve food.

he said he didn't know the laws there, i told him the nevada state laws regarding bars. i also pointed out i don't know the clark county or las vegas city specific laws regarding bars and shows.

He was talking about the laws regarding the whole nudity thing, and answering someone else about whether or not that was legal, and you went rambling on about if a bar serves food then minors can come in... Ok? Thats great and all, but that has nothing to do with the point. Just because they can let minors in, doesnt mean they did, and doesnt make him being naked illegal. As long as the place had the age limit and the proper permits, it doesnt matter if it was just a bar, or a bar the sold food, or if it was a KFC, its still perfectly legal.

I don't go to a show to see some naked guy parading around on stage.

But seriously... to me it just seems like (and I don't mean it to sound like I am talking shit about the people who dislike this, so don't call me names) people disliking this are making way too big of a deal about this. Who cares what they are or aren't wearing? That holds absolutely NO significance to a person or who they are or what they represent... have we DEVOed to a point where we talk shit about people based on how they're dressed or what they look like? We were all born nude (granted, not with makeup or a funny red cumberbund-type thing), and it was beautiful and pure, and I don't really see why people would doubt his motives. I honestly prefer being nude for the exact same reasons, sure being in a jockstrap at a party is funny and gets people riled up, but not only is there an alternate motive behind it, I'm nearly naked all the time anyway. It takes focus away from materialism and places concentration on what is actually important... it does in my eyes at least. Maybe I'm just fucked up.
