this one time in the pit i saw some avenge sevenfold kids do some wierd sort of moshing
they had bandanas tied around their mouths and were doing strange karate chops and some dude was busting out kung fu kicks it was insane
a couple of days later i turn on the tv and afi's new vid was on, "leaving song ptII" and holy shit there it was again
i'm really curious to know what the hell this is?

That's what many consider to be "true moshing". Some call it swing dancing, karate dancing...etc. I personally always liked it more than the "let's push people like we're at an Adema show and pretend we're angry" style.

if you're talking about pits that are outside, people might tie bandanas around their face to keep from swallowing dust and other stuff that gets kicked up while they're moshing/dancing. if you're talking about pits that are inside, it's probably just a lame fashion statement that people are doing to be cool.

i used to rip a shirt sleeve off a cheap t-shirt and wear it over my mouth and nose in the pit at Warped because it was on grass and we'd throw dirt and grass and shit up in the air...but they moved it to a parking lot this year.:mad:

The kids in that vid were from Philly, and not the type you fuck around with. Despite the fact the AFI is very melodic hardcore, and that song has like 1-2 small breakdowns, the dancing is tight. Hardcore dancing can be really expressive. Sadly, it's mostly kids doing spin-kicks. My specialty is the "Gay Pride March."

1) yes, i have been in pits thank you. many times. i do it to vent and to beat the shit out of whatever's on hand...if that be other kids, great. if not, that's just fucking fine.
2) i wrote a long ass reply to this thread that fully explained my reasons for hating 'moshing for fun'. but of course, something went wrong and it didn't post and there's no way in hell i'm writing it all out again.
3) bottom line: don't say things you're clueless about (ex: 'ever been in the pit? no. then try it.') because it will only come back and shit in your face. not to mention make me resent you. end of story.
