I just read my second Chuck Palahniuk book, "Lullaby". I finished reading it from start to end in two days.
I loved it. Although the main character wasn't as interesting as that of Fight Club or Choke, the story was driven and extremely intriguing. I read the last 85 pages in one sitting.
Whereas the other day I said was aprehensive as to whether "Choke" could work as a film, I think "Lullaby" would be great as a film.
The tension in some of the scenes was increadible.

I don't read much at all, but I liked it a lot.

I'm not going to spoil the twist or anyone but, holy shit its good. Ties the entire story together.
Whereas the twist in "Choke" was neat, but it just came out of nowhere and was completely random, whereas the twist in "Lullaby" is structured in a similarly textured manner as Fight Club

Survivor is my favorite Palahniuk book, with Choke at a close second, but Lullaby is quite good.

Survivor should arrive tommorow, I eBayed it a few days back.
I started reading "Haunted" this morning. I just finished the first and most infamous of the stories, 'Guts', which basically ruined my day.
The sickest most twisted thing I have ever read, it actually made me feel physically repulsed, and I am not remotley sensitive to most things graphic

I definitely prefered Lullaby to Choke. I find Lullaby's plot to be much more intriguing, but I do think both books are great in their own right.

I definitely had no idea what was coming when I read 'Guts.' I was pretty blown away after that.

Eh, Palahniuk is alright though he rips off Nicholson Baker too much.
You should try and read either of these books next...

Has anyone read Diary? I thought that was one of his stranger novels.

I actually just finished Lullaby today too, weird. And I have to say of all all the Chuck books that are supposedly being made into movies, I think Lullaby would be the best. Towards the end I started picturing how good it could be if it was a movie, it could really be incredible.
And I haven't read Haunted yet, but the "Guts" story you're talking about, is part of it about a kid finding weird ways to jerk off? Because if it is I think I read it online a while back.

The last 75 or so pages of "Lullaby" made it impossible for me to stop reading.
And yes, that story is "Guts", and it basically made me cringe for about 8 hours

Never heard of him
The first book is by Baker. He is, for my money, the best dialogue writer ever. His books (this one and the Mezzanine especially) are basically one giant conversation that sucks you in and makes it seem as though you are watching it occur. His attention to detail and quirkiness is amazing. The plot to Vox is simply that two people dial a phone sex number and are somehow connected to each other. The entirety of the book is then their conversation with each other. Its one of those things you have to read to believe.
The other book is by Will Christopher Baer and is this really dark film noir story. It's actually the first of a trilogy.

Both sound excellent. I will try and eBay them later on
