Okay, so pretty impressive show overall. Before I write a review I would just like to let everyone know it was my 3rd time seeing quietdrive, 1st time seeing BoysLikeGirls, 2nd time seeing cobra starship and 6th time seeing Cartel.
That being said it sounded like Cobra Starship and Cartel both had difficulties making the show. I instantly noticed something was wrong when I noticed Cartel's stuff was not set up behind the opening band's stuff. It was not until right before Cobra Starship's set that Cartel's drum set was set up. We later found out that Cobra barely made it in time and Cartel arrived 30 minutes after the show started due to having to chain up their bus to make it over some snowy areas in California and Oregon.
The crowd was much larger than I expected...probably close to 1200 people...mostly around 16 years old..there were probably 150 of us up in the 21+ area...mostly parents though. The crowd was heavily into the first three bands, and then it just seemed to dwindle and die down during cartel's set.
1) Quietdrive (A-):
This was definitely the best I have seen them. I dont know their stuff well enough to make a setlist, but their song selection for the set seemed PERFECT. They had the entire crowd pumped up for the rest of the show. Probably the 2nd best performance of the night.
2) BoysLikeGirls (A):
Probably the highlight of the show for me. They were pretty much dead on and had quite a bit of energy. I don't know all of their songs, but they sounded pretty much perfect and had a great mixture of their songs. During the start of their set the crowd swayed big time and probably about 20 people in the middle fell over and probably got trampled...hopefully no one got hurt!!!
Setlist (out of order and likely incomplete):
Five Minutes to midnight
Dance Hall Drug
Hero/Heroine
Top of the World
Hells Over Head
Thunder
The Great Escape
3) Cobra Starship (B):
They played pretty much their entire album. Gabe sounded like he might have been sick because his vox were much better at the TREOS and 30STM show. A couple of girls made a sign that said "We know the rap" and they were brough on stage for Travis' part in "Bring It" The girl that did the rap for cobra at the 30stm show was also better than the two girls tonight. I would say their set probably went on 1-2 songs longer than it should of, but I always enjoy their set because its poppy/dancy and fun.
4) Cartel (B-):
I would have to say disappointment of the night. Don't get me wrong they are ALWAYS good live, but They just werent into like the other bands were tonight. The first three bands all played like they were the headliners with a ton of energy. Cartel just kinda plowed through their set in a mostly boring fashion. Will was evidently sick but still sang his lungs out and was dead on for most of the show. They didnt play a single song from the EP (not even Write This Down) so I was also pretty upset about that. Pretty decent set overall though, and I'd say the highlight of their set was definitely the Wonderwall Cover.
Set list (in order):
Say Anything Else
Luckie St.
If I Fail
Matter of Time (played slower than the album version...I disliked that)
Runaway (with a sweet jam session before it and Will busted out some long notes during it)
Burn This City
NEW SONG ("Lose it all")
Settledown
Wonderwall Cover
Minstrel's Prayer
Q
A
Encore:
NEW SONG
Honestly
Overall, this show was definitely worth the $20...BoysLikeGirls could be absolutely huge any day now. Most of the crowd seemed there for Cobra Starship and then it appeared there were about the same amount for Cartel and BoysLikeGirls.
