I thought there was a thread about this film somewhere on here but I did a search and nothing came up. Anyway, this is one of my favorite films and in my opinion one of the best acted films of all time. All three actors (Dinklage, Clarkson and Cannavale) give absolutely enchanting performances and in a year where Sean Penn won best actor for Mystic River and Johnny Depp was nominated for Pirates of the Caribbean, it is an absolute shame that Dinklage wasn't nominated because in fact, he deserved the Oscar. See this film if you haven't.

I agree Dinklage was amazing, but honestly, Bobby Cannavale made the movie for me. That man was hilarious and incredible in that movie, and for me, made it a movie I could watch once and be like "wow, that was really good" to "I need to buy this now." My roommate and I watched it together off a recommendation by my Mom a few years back, and both of us thought Cannavale was pretty much the greatest thing since sliced bread. Great movie.

I disagree, Dinklage did give a great performance, but Sean Penn was better in Mystic River AND Bill Murray was definitely better in Lost In Translation. However, I do agree he deserved the nomination over Jude Law and Johnny Depp. Was he in the running?

Thank you so much for saying that. Cannavale was so good. Played the character to an absolute "t". One of my favorite performances.

Nah, no nomination.
No, I know that, I was just curious if his name was ever mentioned in discussions of snubs or possible nominations that year, if you know.

I was actually supposed to watch this and review it for my school paper on Tuseday but because of an informative error and my attending of the Epitaph Tour I did not make it. It sounded like an interesting study though.

He was nominated for Best Actor at the 2003 SAG Awards.

And I'm pretty sure he won or took runner up in a few critics circles that year, but I cannot find any confirmation of it.

I actually tivo this when it came on IFC, but someone deleted it, along with Apt Pupil and Blade Runner. Looks like I'll have to rent it. Started watching it, but only got about 20 minutes in.

I found his performance in 21 Grams to be better than in Mystic River.

Speaking of 21 Grams and Alejandro González Iñárritu, I recently saw Babel and was very dissapointed. It was the worst of the trilogy.
