so you know that he was inches away from death with testicular, lung and braincancer and then came back 2 years after beating it to win the tour de france...i would have to agree with atleast greatest athlete if our time (so far)

no bullshit that makes him an EXTROARDINARY person. what makes him "the greatest athlete" is the fact that he could not stand, eat or take a shit by himself, and within 2 years of beating cancer was able to pedal up the pierenies and alps in wicked weather for 23 days and beating everyone that has been training for years at the chance to compete.

yup...armstrong is a freak of nature. I think he can do 6, he's only 31, he can do it.

He's not a freak, hes good, he trains and he loves it, and hes good, but most importantly he has the determination to compete, adn as for micheal jordan adn larry bird? they played basketball, thats it that's all they did, amazing at it yes, but as i recall they did nothing great, ok so jordan had good skills ok and bird was a good white guy, but there are huindreds of better guys than them that don't make it, but lance competes against everyone 1 on 1 proving he is teh best in the WORLD, not in soem crappy line up of a money dminated sport where the heart is in a wallet adn no longer on a sleeve...

ok i agree mj or lance are the greatest athlete of our time. mj was amazing on the court and lance was amazing on his bike. im sure no average person can do what either has done.

Judging by stats, Wayne Gretzky would be the greatest athlete of our time. He owns or holds 61 NHL records, is ahead in number of career asists by about 60%, career goals by about 40%...it's sick. He has more asists than anyone else ever had points. Just think...if he had never scored one goal, he would still be the leading scorer of all time. Complete domination.

ya i know about wayne gretzky. he just was one of the few who made it his career without getting huge injuries. plus hockey is a way different sport. there are only certain places you can be a scorer. (sorry i dont know much about hockey) which is why gretzky was such a dominating player in hockey. but in basketball with mj you didnt wanna guard him. it was his all around explosiveness. plus you can score at in position you play. and with lance he is considered one of the greatest becuz of what he went through and then has one 5 (soon to be 6) tour de france championships. thats pretty damn good.
