While reading the lyrics to Deja Entendu, I've slowly realized a connection within them. Maybe it's just me, maybe I'm reading too much into them, but who knows.

Tatou: "I'm burning like a bridge for your body" - he wants her badly

Sic Transit Gloria: entire song - he wants her, but he's not ready for sex

I Will Play My Game Beneath The Spinlight: "I wrote more postcards than hooks, read more maps than books" - his band is getting on the road, starting to tour more, gaining fame

Okay I Believe You: "these are the words you wished you wrote down, this is the way you wished your voice sounds" - he's getting bigger as a musician, and he's saying "look at me now, don't you wish you were in my spot"

The Quiet Things No One Ever Knows: "keep the blood in your head and your feet on the ground" - don't let the fame go to your head

The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot: "if it makes you less sad, i will die by your hand" - if you can't stand my success, i'll leave

Jaws Theme Swimming: "though I love you" - I love you, but I'm not going to be able to resist all temptations

Me vs. Maradona vs. Elvis: "i almost feel sorry for what i'm gonna do" - I'm going to use my fame to my advantage (as far as women go)

Am I crazy? I guess I'll find out.

When I saw Brand New at warped the other day I was in a trance. They are so damn good. Jesse's voice is hypnotizing. And that is all I have to say.

yea i think what you said is definately an interpretation of it, and i agree that these kinda lyrics are meant to be read into and thats what makes them so good, some really good cds always have songs that mean something to me in any situation depending on how i look at the lyrics that day... hmm i kinda got off topic. but youre not crazy! unless i am too

That's what spending time listening to Kasher and Oberst does to you.

Jesse definetly is definetly one of my favorite lyricists. I had no idea before so I read the lyrics over and over and you are right. There is a connection.

um...what? you can say that about a lot of bands. I think all you people are agreeing and not flaming this kid cause it's brand new...if it were any other band other than them...and yellowcard...no one woulda agreed. you're all stupid, i'm a genius.
