Has anyone else seen this movie? I bought it yesterday without having ever seen it, and damn, it's a good movie. I seriously suggest to everyone here. Ryan Gosling did an amazing job.

I watched this today and I loved it all the way until the ending, which I thought didn't really fit. It stopped really abruptly and didn't have any good closure.

you think him being hooked on drugs is going to be wrapped up nicely with closure???

not at all, but I think the filmmakers could have done a better job giving some sort of hint as to what would happen in the future.

I kind of agree, but I just dont think its simple enough to do a happy ending type wrap-up. I hate when they do like... "six months later..."

I like how its up to us to decide what happens to these characters.

I thought it was a great ending. It's easy to see what happens. There was a part in the movie where the girl asks him "Do you think I'll end up like my brother?" and by hanging with the drug dealer she was heading down the wrong path. That incident between them near the end opened up her eyes. He helped her to stay away from the life her brother led, and now it's her turn to help him. She's helping him cleanup now. Before, he would always lead the relationship and make the decisions and she would just ask questions. Now, at the end, when he was at his worst, there was a role reversal.

I agree with the ending. I'm all for leaving movies on an open ending, but i wanted a little more from this one.

Other than that I thought it was great.

Agreed.

It didn't have to wrap up nicely, but the ending was really abrupt and unsatisfying..not in a good way. I still loved the movie though.

God, I loved this movie. I think the ending worked perfectly for the reasons some of you already said - it needed to be open-ended. Complete closure would have been a bit lame, especially that cliche six months later situation.

I finally just saw this. Fantastic.

It boggles my mind that people had problems with the ending. It was near perfect.

I enjoyed it, but thought that it dragged.

Acting was top notch though

The ending was absolutely perfect.

And I honestly think Gosling's performance will go down as one of the greatest of the new millenium.

This was a great movie. I loved how simple it was and never tried to do to much. I felt it should have shown more of his drug habbit. And the ending was quite poor. Still a great movie, I highly recommend it.

The majority of the movie was his drug habit and it showed him physically doing drugs probably ten times at least. Oh, and the ending was perfect. Try again.

10 times? I guess I don't remember the movie very well. I just felt like the ending wasn't good because it seemed to easy. Quiting drugs is very tough. Especially crack.

it doesn't show him quitting drugs. it just shows him finally making a legitimate attempt.

I think Half Nelson really showed how talented Ryan Gosling is, and that he's not just "that hottie from The Notebook"

Well, the Believer really did that first.

Every open opportunity he was doing drugs throughout the movie basically.
