ok, anyone heard the new relient k album? ok, some of you might think i'm biased from some of my past posts, but here is my COMPLETELY UNBIASED view of it:
guitars- some of these songs just need better guitar distortion. for example. in must've done something right. i mean come on. at least the producer could've done something. there are parts where the guitars sound GREAT, but are unfortunately overshadowed by unoriginal riffs (I need you).
pop punk- i know everyone keeps thinking relient k handles pop punk well, but is it really that great? there's really no growth hear from mmhmm (although i have to say, deathbed is FABULOUS) and everything sounds the same, just a tad bit darker. and nothing here hasn't already been covered by other pop punk bands like simple plan, blink 182, etc, etc.
the album does have it's high points like the crayons song (clever!), the one and only deathbed and forgiven. but everything else just seems so generic (ok, off my unbiased chair) and though it's prettty much at it's best, i wouldn't listen to rk if i wanted catchy pop punk. i don't see what the hype is about.
