Smoosh (http://www.myspace.com/smooshtheband) - I love this band. I don't care if the members are barely into their teens and that their songs get played on shows like The Gilmore Girls. I don't care how many people have seen me driving down the road singing "It's Not Your Day to Shine" at the top of my lungs. Nope, I don't care because the fact that they're on Barsuk and NPR recommended makes it all ok.
Stick To Your Guns (http://www.myspace.com/styg) - Orange County posi-core about gender equity and the ills of vanity. Oh yea, and it shreds.
The Flesh (http://www.myspace.com/theflesh) - Dance-punk straight out of the 1980's. If you're not grooving to the punchy rhythm that is "In Paradise" you must be without a pulse or a child of the 90's. Either way, I lament for your unhipness.
Nakatomi Plaza (http://www.myspace.com/nakatomiplaza) - These guys have been around forever, but have never really exploded into a band that everyone in the Alternative Press generation can rattle off at will. Unsettled should launch them into that stratosphere. Having an identity crisis usually spells death for a band, but Nakatomi Plaza's schizophrenic sound is akin to what The Forecast would sound like if they spent much of their time listening to Dischord-era hardcore on those long-ass van trips.
