View Full Version : Dear Metallica,
Please spend less time trying to end file sharing and more time trying to make decent music. Put out an above average album and maybe, just maybe, people the piracy will stop.
It has to be depressing when your album doesn't go platinum.

You are absolutely correct, metallica sucks and they do need to put out better music.

I've never really listened to them, but was there last album good? Every magazine has it as one of the best albums of the year and never thought about it until I saw this post.

There last album was trash.
Take this pitchfork review for example. It really says it all.

kirk hammet = godlike. isnt that the name of the lead guitarist? hes awesome
every cd metallica made from kill em all through s&m was simply amazing, their new cd is pure shit though. they're still an amazing and very talented band even if it isn't 'punk' to like them

And emo is all about crying? I guess you didn't read that one thread.
I hate all new original albums post ..."And Justice for All"
I have an inner metalhead, it's true.
But can you deny the greatness of songs like "Disposable Heros" and "Sanitarium"?
And "Creeping Death" is goddamn rock solid
As soon as they wrote a song that was less than 4 minutes, they were dead to me.

i think that old metallica was really really talented. They still are but i guess their just not as good as before so people are judging them compared to their old stuff.
kevin; you unintentially proved my point.
and to everyone who says "metallica sucks" or "they're a bouncha cry-babies" or whatever, dl "hit the lights" by them, and don't post here again until you've downloaded it and listened to it, their old stuff wasn't too far from punk.
No wonder why they wanted to stop file sharing so much: it gave people a choice between listening their crappy music and GOOD music. They're already rich, what else do they need? Jeez, remember all the letters of support during the napster days from Offspring, greeen day, and Dave matthews about how file sharing was good because it got their music to more people?

i'm guessing you don't even know any of their songs apart from whatever single they just released and "enter sandman" so until you actually know their songs fuck off.
and like you said, metallica are already rich enough so their great grandchildren won't need to work, so money isn't really an isuue, maybe it's just that napster is wrong. the average person with napster has more songs on their computer than they do on cds, and with smaller bands any money they make goes right back into the band, so downloading all their songs kinda screws yourself out of getting more music. if you like a band; support them, if you aren't sure; buy a compilation

Don't fuck us all over. If they shut down file sharing, how the fuck do I find new bands? I'm dead serious when I say without kazaa, napster, and morpheus, I would have maybe 15 cds, and they would be your average radio shit. I wouldnt know about anything good thats out there, esp the older bands that have broken up. Where do you get songs by them without diving headfirst into buying a CD?

here's what you do; go to local shows, see bands, get flyers, demos, etc. go to shows of bands you already know about and see the openeing bands. talk to people who know good bands, and more than anyhting else BUY A FUCKING COMP!
compilations are usually very cheap, between 2-5 bucks and have lots of different bands on them, there's bound to be one you like, and if not (a rare instance) then you helped support some small band that probably needed it.
