Inspired by a discussion in another thread - what's more important to you in a video game - Great, realistic graphics, or realistic/fun and deep gameplay?

ideally, i like a combination of both but id have to go with gameplay being more important

I have to go with gameplay. It's why I loved the Backyard Sports series.

Gameplay. No question. That's with any game in general, as well.

I'm mostly interested in how a game looks. I'd rather feel like im watching a real game than have the controlls be 100% great.
Gameplay does mean a lot though, the past few maddens have been nearly unplayable for me, though the graphics were pretty much crap as well.
I would rather play a game with mediocre gameplay and great presentation and grahpcis than a game with great gameplay and mediocre presenation and graphics.
i guess lots of poeple think differently.

For me, it's no question. Gameplay by far. MVP 2005 doesn't have amazing graphics, but i love everything about the gameplay off that game. Give me mediocre graphics and outstanding gameplay and i'm sold.

gameplay, the game has to be realistic. +

graphics are nonetheless important, but gameplay by far is what makes or breaks the game

ok, that being said, i wont play a game that has terrible gameplay.

mlb2k7 doesnt have crap gameplay. Its better than average. its not MVP05 to anyone, but to me its not mlb:the show as far as gameplay (i think thats the best gameplay game). But when graphics are that good and the gameplay is a on par, but not perfect, i think it makes for a pretty damn good game.

some of the best (most fun) games in my opinion have been some of the simplest in terms of looks.

Gameplay, but graphics are a huge deal with me.

My friend had College Hoops 2k7 and the shooting forms bothered me to no end. It just looked so goofy, so I decided to pick up March Madness 2007 for 360, a much cleaner looking game. I was disappointed with pass versions of March Madness but I actually enjoy the new one a lot.

Broken Parachute, explain yourself!Yeah, I don't think I made the right choice at all. I was thinking at first that games with bad graphics are horrible, but the more I thought about it..games with horrid gameplay are even worse. MVP05 was a good example.

Best example of this ever - NBA Jam.

I thought this was about sports games. If we're talking about non-sporting games then its game play definitely.
My thing with graphics on a sports game is i want to feel like im watching a real game.

my 2 favorite baseball games growing up: bad news baseball for NES and the first griffey for 64, didn't have the greatest of graphics. but man were they fun to play.

gameplay. I don't really play video games much, so the games that i do play better be fucking fun as shit.

Fifa, mario kart, etc.

gameplay makes or breaks a sports game. graphics in sports games are pretty standard, nothing too comlex so for the most part they havent been a big issue in my mind for sports games. but a game could be jaw-dropping graphic wise but the gameplay could be horrible and the game will be ruined.

gameplay. rbi 93 was a favorite into 2002 and that was because i liked the way it played.

I play Baseball Stars and NHL 94 more than most other sports games.

Gameplay by a mile.

Gameplay overall for me because that is what keeps you coming back to a game...Graphics are important though too...good graphics just make a game so much better when you have good gameplay to back it up.
