Rather than take up the staff rec news thread with my long list of rec's, I decided to make a seperate thread. Here are my rec's for the week:
The Juliana Theory (http://www.myspace.com/thejulianatheory) - Emotion Is Dead - After not listening to the Juliana Theory for quite some time I decided to dust this album off and give it a spin and it has been stuck in my stereo ever since.
Sherwood (http://myspace.com/sherwood) - A Different Light - I have been on a huge Sherwood kick lately and I cannot wait to pick this album up when it comes out on Tuesday. I have a feeling this record will become my soundtrack for this summer.
Tigercity (http://www.myspace.com/tigercity) - Tigercity EP and New Demos - Everything you could want to know about this up and coming indie band you can read in my review of their EP (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=213028). While I prefer the songs on the band's debut EP, the new demos show a lot of promise and it is only a matter of time before Tigercity becomes the next underground buzz band.
Hey Mercedes (http://www.myspace.com/heymercedes) - Everynight Fire works - It is such a shame Hey Mercedes never quite got the recognition they deserved while they were around. Everynight Fire works is a great album to throw on during the summer months and I recommend everyone who has not listened to this band yet to give them a shot. If you like what you hear, I also suggest reading Julia's interview (http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=218969) with Bob Nanna, it is very informative and any Braid/Hey Mercedes fan should definitely read it.
and I will close my rec's for the week with: Pete Yorn (http://www.peteyorn.com/) - musicforthemorningafter - I don't really care for Pete's newer albums, but I usually listen to musicforthemorningafter quite frequently
I also suggest reading "Our Band Could Be Your Life" by Michael Azerrad, it is a great read for any music fan who wants to learn a little more about the early days of the undergroun music scene.
