Cheesy Love Poem on a Sunny Afternoon

I’m not the girl who feels this way
Not the one who falls in love,
But I woke up happy today
For the first time in months.
Has the sun always been there
Hiding over those clouds?
Because I’ve never seen that glare
And I have my doubts.
Now it seems that winter’s over
As the flowers start to bloom,
So I search for four-leaf clovers
Like a little child would do,
And I wish on eleven-eleven
Or under yellow lights,
And I stare off to the heavens
Almost every single night.
I’ve never felt this happy,
Don’t know how to be content,
But with your words you trap me
Till it all starts making sense.

It seems a sappy love song
Has taken over my mind.
I tell myself it’s all wrong
But can’t think of another kind.
You say one day it will all make sense,
Now I think I understand.
So please don’t end my innocence
Before my feet can land.
Let’s just shut out all the world
Except for you and me,
Fall victim to this crazy, twirled
Romantic comedy.
Come sit with me and think big thoughts
In silent satisfaction.
Keep twisting away at my horrible knots
Anticipating my reaction.
I swear I’ve never told a soul
What I confess to you.
Those years of silence took their toll
But now I feel brand new.

I didn't care for this one. It didn't seem very sincere, but it did seem contrived. The whole concept has been overdone and the poem offers nothing refreshing to make up for it. A plethoric amount of the lines were unneccessary as they were redundant and uninspiring. I encourage you to try to write outside of the norm and challenge yourself as a writer. Good luck.

PS - if you are ever without anything to do then please venture into my thread and check out my song. Thanks.
