Yellowcard (http://www.absolutepunk.net/yellowcard) are putting the finishing touches on their new album.
so we are hustlin to get the finishing touches on this record. this album of albums. this masterpiece... well, you get the idea. we have only a week left. this is crunch time. and while all this shit was happening, we still made time to get you a webisode. we tried as hard as we could to get it up last night, but alas.... we are late as usual. fashionably late, as we call it here in sunny california. so enjoy. our latest cinematic treat.... and just know, we are working our feeble, little fingers to the bone in here. i think id almost rather be in a sweat shop, making hundreds of pairs of shoes a day.... this is a cry for help. if someone reads this, please help.... im trapped here, chained to the wall.... help....
sean
ps. well, the webisode was supposed to be up by now. sorry. and pps. i was kidding earlier. we are having a great time putting the icing on the cake. stay tuned.

So this should see a June-July release? It's not among my most anticipated for this year, but I'll definately be checking this out when it does hit. Lights and Sounds was a little underrated, but I'm not expecting them to make another Ocean Avenue.

i'm not expecting another Ocean Ave, but I sure as hell hope they do something different than Lights and Sounds. bought it, took one listen, sold it back. they themselves even think it's terrible, or "not their best" cuz they were "trying to hard."

on a more positive note than my past post:
I did really like that 30-60 sec rough demo clip they posted a while back. It had a lot more violin and it was sweet violin melody. sooo... i am hopeful.

The clip they posted sounded good. Let's hope for a great summer album.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but i'd def like to hear something more along the lines of L&S. Don't get it twisted, i love me some good pop-punk more than anything else, but L&S was horribly underrated. If YC continued in that direction and refined their sound, I guarantee this new LP would be their best work to date. too bad that'll never happen...

Bring back the One For The Kids sound.
I totally miss those random shows when they first moved out here and were getting really started.

Personally, I think Lights and Sounds totally kicks Ocean Avenue's ass, but my favorite is One For The Kids.

I wonder what "big" record Neal Avron was mixing on to break away from YC for a few weeks.

I don't understand why everybody hated or at least didn't like L+S. That was a solid album, good sound, lots of orchestral stuff, what's not to like?

Agreed...personally, I loved L&S, it was one of my favorite albums of 2006. Showed us all that the boys can do more than simple radio-ready pop-punk (although I think that plenty of tracks on L&S could've been excellent singles). I really hope that the label isn't riding their asses trying to get them to put out another "ocean ave" to make them more cash...I'd like to see them do more exploring of what else they can do, like in L&S.

Hopefully this will be more along the lines of Ocean Ave and less along the lines of Lights And Sounds.

I agree with your opinion of Lights and Sounds and Ocean Avenue.
I also wanna add that i'm glad their (supposedly) adding more violin into the new album. I don't understand why everyone hates on Yellowcard though, i think all their albums have been good. Even though 'Lights and Sounds' is a little more of a generic rock album it is still pretty similar to 'Ocean Avenue'. The biggest difference to me is the lyrics on Ocean Avenue are a whole lot better. The song on L&S with the best lyrics (Two Weeks From Twenty) is the one with the worst instrumental arrangement. But most of the songs on L&S have good instrumentals... except some need to be beefed up with some violin.

I'm most likely shutting down AbsolutePunk.net due to financial difficulties. I may try taking donations, but you greedy bastards probably wouldn't donate. Fuckers.

this is all awesome. I'm so pumped about this album AND their coming to my warped tour date. If you guys want to calculate it, you'll notice that finalized albums are usually released just two months later (we're in mid-March; just look at The Used, Maroon 5, and Linkin Park records announced for mid-May) so I expect this in June. which is before my warped tour date. yay!
I hope this is a unique, yet fun and catchy album, summery or not. that's all I ask from the boys from Yellowcard. can't wait!

Everyone on this site likes to hate on YC and Lights & Sounds because it was released right around the time Ben was forced out. Many took Ben's side to the problem thus they decided to hate on YC and Lights & Sounds.
As for my opinion, while it was not Ocean Avenue (catchy as hell), Lights & Sounds was still a solid pop-punk album. Like many on here have commented, it did lack some acoustic violin which everyone loves to hear from YC, they apparently are bringing it back on this album.
