Brand New's set sounds awesome. I want to see it but hope all the douchebags who normally show up at a Brand New show are so turned off by the new disc, they won't bother showing up.
Because seeing this set with those morons would ruin everything for me.

03/16/07, 07:26 AM
I'm sure they travel with their own sound guy, so i dont know why the sound was so fucking awful. Jesse's electric guitar was screeching loud, you couldn't even hear Vinnie's leads, and the bass drowned everything that you could hear out. When he switched to the bass tuned to E natural, the pickups must have had lower out put because it was not nearly as loud. That only lasted for a few songs, (sowing season, take apart your head, and jesus christ). Everything else sounded like terrible muddy shit.
I know I am probably coming off as a snob, but I like to hear each part of the songs, and hear them clearly. The sound basically ruined this show for me. I was half tempted to tell the sound guy that I could do twice as good of a job as he did, but I'm not that much of an asshole. Sick setlist though, and jesse's voice has improved A LOT over the years.
im not complaining for 22 songs of brand new... thats sick!! but no "Not The Sun"? :-( thats the first song that i got into in the new album...

Wow...Brand New couldn't play a more fan-friendly setlist than that. All of Deja in order just like they did in the UK? Wow.
I hope they keep it pretty much the same by the time they get to Baltimore near the end of the tour...

probably...no definetly one of the greatest experiences of my entire life. ive missed seeing brand new 4 times in the past 5 years...and this was well worth the wait.
manchester orchestra was pretty tight live too, amazing opener to complement and set-up the insanity that was brand new.

Jude Law was just Jesse playing the backing power chords of the song and singing. His voice was really good, but it was drowned out by crowd voices until they finished off Deja. The crowd at the show turned me off so much. They were such immature pricks to Kevin and Manchester, all they said was OKAY OKAY I WANT BRAND NEW NOW. And their fans under 18 don't appreciate the new album songs it seems. All n' all though, it was good. Vinnie was the most interesting to watch for me, and Cotton Crush was my highlight, only 5 or so people up in front knew it.

it was fucking incredible, probably one of the best shows ive seen.
they knew they let their fans down on their last tour with Dashboard (only 8 songs?!) and they apologized and were greatly for everyone being there.
jesse and the whole band seemed so happy.

03/16/07, 08:45 AM
all 3 bands were amazing. i wish i was able to see kevin when he headlined in buffalo a few months ago. cant wait to see manchester headline. "good to know" wasn't on the setlist but they played it anyway. "limo" was on the setlist and they didnt play it. they played for two hours. no encore.

03/16/07, 08:56 AM
Kevin Devine's set list is just as shocking as the one he played on his headlining tour. I thought maybe for the brand new show he would pick it up a notch (i.e. noose dressed like a necklace) but he's still amazing life. All those who question whether you'll like the Kevin Devine portion of this show prepare to have your brains turned into shit. Plus he promised me he'd play "People are so fickle" at the Minneapolis show, and I have faith he will.

03/16/07, 08:59 AM
The set was incredible and while there was some douche bag frat guys there who kept chanting about the Sabres overall on my section of the floor people were respectful for Manchester and Kevin. I thought the sounds was pretty decent at least Jesse's voice could be heard clearly through the entire set which is always a good thing and doesn't often happen at Buffalo shows for any band.

hahaha seriously.
other than that; i loved kevin's set - i wish more people would have gotten into him, though.
and honestly, the only complaint i had about bn's set was the 'peace out' ending they gave after you won't know - just walking off the stage without warning. haha. however, they played enough songs off of your favorite weapon to make this girl happy!! :)

I really can't wait for this tour. I've been a Kevin fan for the past four years and a BN fan for even longer and I was one of thew few waiting for Manchester to release their album last year. It's going to be an incredible show, I can't wait.
And as someone said BN played for a straight 2 hours last night which is pretty damn impressive.

i understand the passion for sports, i do....but it's disrespectful at a concert to be more into a game you are not at, than a concert you are at. especially when a band is on stage and you're still chanting that.

Fucking AMAZING SET by Brand New last night...I was really impressed by their stage pressense and energy as well...I thought they would be more mellow....it was well worth the drive...that and the 12 pack of beer for $6

03/16/07, 10:14 AM
My friend and I were supposed to make the 6 hour drive down to Buffalo to see this show, but Tickets.com never sent him his ticket....even though they guarantee you'll have them 48 hours prior to the show. And we ordered them TWO MONTHS AGO. So he made some calls to the venue and tickets.com and long story short, tickets.com isn't responsible for lost tickets if you don't use fedex...and the venue wouldn't let him in regardless if he is in the computer or not. So we didn't go and were extremely pissed off. So just a warning that if any of you guys ordered your tickets through tickets.com, to make sure you get your ticket or order through fedex if you want to get refunded.

I feel like a douche complaining about this setlist because it is amazing, but I think they should take away one song from YFW and two songs from Deja and add Limo, Archers, and Not The Sun. This setlist looks like it is a show from 2003 with a few new songs being played. This tour is obviously not in support of their new album haha.
However. I dont mind TOO much over 20 songs and 2 hours of one of my favorite live performances....I can live. Also Manchester Orchestra will be great and it looks like Kevin Devines set is perfect length for being right before BN (last time people got pissed that Colour Revolt played so long).

but brand new... thats ridiculous... thats like 22 songs!!!!! jeez.
im sad no "Not the Sun" and "Archers"... they are total concert songs... but ill flip shit when they play "Bangkok" and "You Won't Know"
concert of the year? i think so
Jude Law And A Semester Abroad (Jesse Solo Electric)
whats that ganna be like?
it's gonna be like jesse playing jude law alone with an electric guitar.
I love deja, but I'd rather see a few new songs ("archers" & "not the sun" especially) in place of some older ones. either way, i have my tickets and i'm really excited for this show.

I love that they play from all three albums, and in order. All three are so different that I can't see how they could easily mix them up. I like the order. Like some, I wish that it wasn't all of deja and more devil and god and really more YFW would be fabulous. But it's cool with me. I'm happy to be seeing them and that it's not all from devil and god and that's it. That was my biggest fear that they won't play enough old stuff.

Maybe it's just me, but KD's set seems way too short. Especially for being main support.
the whole chanting let's go buffalo thing got old fast. it was funny the first few times, but after a while i wanted to punch someone. it was ruining the set.
yeah and then people started chanting different thing and nobody knew what was going on it was like "let's go sabres" and "lets go brand new" hahah.

it was so cute when kevin was like "yeah, let's go buffalo" :] i wish he would've played longer
When I saw him play with Straylight Run in December, there was a girl in the front on her cell phone, and the way he reacted was pretty amazing. "What?! Are you SERIOUSLY on a cell phone? Amazing." Gosh, I love that man.
Also, while I think this is an amazing setlist, more tdagarim would've pretty much made my life.
That is like the best possible setlist that Brand New could have. I wish this tour was coming to me.
if they have the same setlist tuesday, i hope someone shoots me after the show. that way i know i'll die happy.
I'd be happy to oblige.

I just saw them in Columbus. The setlist was pretty much the same except they played Millstone not Luca.
I don't know if MCO or KD's setlists were the same because I am not familiar with those bands, but they were both good.
I would be surprised if they kept that setlist for long because I would imagine Jesse would get really tired. He was struggling, but still amazing at the end.

i understand the passion for sports, i do....but it's disrespectful at a concert to be more into a game you are not at, than a concert you are at. especially when a band is on stage and you're still chanting that.
at least they were just chanting.
at the cartel show earlier this week everyone was watching the game while cartel was on stage.
like the stage was on one side of the room and the tv's on another...everyone was turned around watching the game.
it was a sight.

I was there too. They played Luca too, just Millstone right before it. They also played "Good to know...", but said this setlist might not be what they play all tour, so enjoy it. KD's setlist was the same, except for an extra cover right before Cotton Crush, but I'm not sure what the song was. He said it, but I couldn't make it out. Not sure about MO, my first time hearing them. Didn't sound bad, but I was there for BN and KD.
Brand new was just amazing. I've seen them 8 times now and I can say Jesse's voice sounded the best tonight and Vinnie has really improved on his guitar work. It was their best performance. They even said last tour they were "not allowed" to play anymore songs than they did, so they were making it up to their fans with this setlist. Did anyone notice the 2 drumsets? I saw Vinnie get on the set at one point.

Yeah, what fucking sense does chronology make?

I'd go the whole wide world
Just to find her
I'd go the whole wide world
I'd go the whole wide world
Find out where they hide her"

i saw this set last night at royal oak and it was amazing. manchester orchestra was great, even tho they only played five songs. vin played drums on two songs. kevin devine's set was kinda lackluster to be honest. he def. didn't fit the crowd. the only song i really enjoyed was the neutral milk hotel cover. jesse came out to play guitar. vin played trumpet and the lead singer from MO was out there too. brand new blew everyone out of the water tho. i couldn't believe they played all of deja in order. nobody seemed to know the words to "good to know" tho. the crowd was really into the "the devil and god" closing songs. i was surprised by milstone and how the crowd got so into it. we actually had an encore. brand new left the stage after play crack the sky. they came back out after two or three minutes. the lead singer from MO started playing the acoustic guitar part of welcome to bangkok and then the band member's joined him. they ended with "you won't know" in amazing fashion. vinnie actually threw his guitar at the drum set and all the band members left except for jesse who kept singing you won't know over and over. overall, brand new's set was the best set i've ever seen at a concert ever. it def. had something for fans, old and new. it is definitly worth checking out

Aarrgh. Why can't I see this show before April 21st? If they change/shorten the setlist dramatically between now and then, that'll be a little disappointing...although I'll certainly understand. It's one hell of a long setlist.

They certainly did shorten up the setlist, at least the second of the chicago dates, which i imagine they may do for the remainder of the tour because it was probably exhausting to play that long every night. The first night they played everything that was originally posted, a full two hours. The second night they totally switched things up opening with sowing season and millstone and luca, then played only some of deja, with some yfw mixed in. they still closed with you wont know, but didnt play quiet things, jude law, guernica, seventy times seven, and some others. definately under an hour and a half playing time.

they came to tremont music hall last tour. i saw the show - they played demo number one. it was the best brand new show i've ever seen.
Oh I was at that show too. it was amazing, don't get me wrong. But I would just love to see them play Jude Law atleast one time. That is the song that made me love Brand New.

Hrm...that could be because they played two nights in Chicago...or it could be what they're doing for the rest of the tour...guess we'll have to see...

after that, (or at least according to the street boards) they've pretty much been randomly switching between the original long set and the shortened set. As of right now, youve got about a 50/50 chance of seeing the long one, but that all could change.

Interesting...considering how close my show is to the end of the tour, I guess that means they'll either be a) worn out and only playing the shorter setlist by then or b) fired up that the tour's almost over and putting on some amazing shows to close it out...
I'll keep my fingers crossed for b)...although I'm going to be thrilled to see these guys again either way.

No, I'm actually going to the Baltimore show...I'm going to be up there for the weekend anyway...
I saw them last year in New York when I was up there for a work trip. Phenomenal show....but the setlist wasn't anything like the extended version they've been playing on some of the shows on this tour.
