Notes: So I used to write quite a few political-punk songs, ala NoFx or Propagandhi (two of my favorite bands.) So...Ive been hesitant to submit them, but here's one just for the hell of it haha. So yeah, I'm just submitting this for fun, really, but still, it'd be cool to see what you think about it.

Me and My Shadow

Hurts to turn my neck like this,
So I'll just keep these perceptive eyes blind
Look in a different direction
Cause it's "flying in formation" vs. "stepping out of line"
Sowing these seeds with the wretched and the royal
Depositing them into this fertile soil

[Chorus]
Sprung from the dirt of this fertile land
Come the roots of a truth that we can't understand
Following instinct, we shut both our eyes
Cancel reality and crawl back into our slipshod disguise

I'm standing in cement. sinking in the sea
Watching the world wave me farewell as the water floods my sight
One thousand broken promises have driven me to drown
I guess only the strong survive in the "land of silent nights"
And I'm splitting hairs with the poor and the wealthy
Realization sure puts the "hell" back in "healthy"

[Chorus]
Sprung from the dirt of this fertile field
Comes a sort of truth that we refuse to yield
Giving into grief, we plug both our ears
Waxing poetic via blood, sweat, and tears

Yes, I know, don't tell me. Stupid line, but oh well. Tell me how to improve that one haha

Those were the lines I enjoyed

I enjoyed this for the most part, I'd expected to hate it actually since I can't say I've seen a political song I liked. But this wasn't too bad. The one line you mentioned in your next post is bad and needs changing.

I remember the debate the last political song started, fun times indeed.

Haha, thanks. Political punk sure isn't for everyone, for obvious reasons haha, and personally, I'm not huge on it, but I used to be, and I do still enjoy it, but yeah. It puts some people off.
But thanks again, and that line, yeah haha...I'll change it. I just kept it in there for laughs

Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
