No, not the movie with Nic Cage. I just got done watching this. What do you think is in the book, if it really exists?

They basically said the whole documentary was speculation at the end, which pissed me off.

This aired awhile back I believe. While it is interesting, the end of every clip was "Could this top secret information....be kept...in a secret book?"

I believe that there are certain things passed from President to President, but a secret book...not as much.

It is still interesting though.

As for Decoded ... disgusting...

This was interesting but nothing spectacular. Obviously there are plenty of secrets passed from President to President, and the show mentioned a handful of them, but it's doubtful they are kept in some sort of cryptic National Treasure-esque book. Decent watch for people who don't know a lot about the behind the scenes stuff.

I hear Bill Clinton passed down a little black book, but I don't think it contained anything vital to national security...

It must be kept in several books, or videos or something. I mean, I'm sure the President knows secrets from the time of Lincoln and Washington. Most of it is probably dumb shit about the White House (as a house, not an institution), or about inside jokes, or about tips to get stuff done.

I assume there are some national secrets, and the truth about certain things, but I doubt It's as simple as a book with everything in it.

How could you possibly know this?

Not saying you were, but you've honestly got no clue whether there is or isn't one in existence.

logic tells me it doesn't exist. it'd have leaked at some point by now if it did.

Good point, but I still think that there's a possibility. Maybe it's not a huge ridiculous book of secret papers like National Treasure 2, but there could very well be something that exists.

if you want to keep a bunch of stuff super secret you don't put it all in one tome as that makes all the stuff you want to keep secret that much easier to find out.

This makes logical sense, but frankly there could or could not be one. It doesn't have to be big, or full of any information that's worth a shit either though. I know the discussion is about a literal book, but there could be other things. Files, discs, etc. with the information on it now rather than a book. I don't know, I would just like to think that something like this does exist because I think it'd be pretty cool.

Why would you just like to think this exists? What solace do you get out of it?

It doesn't exist. Secret information is passed down from president to president. No need to mystify the process with imaginary bullshit when the reality of the matter is far less complex then you are trying to make it.

Haha, what a response. I'd like to think it exists because I find the idea interesting. It makes me wonder what kind of shit is inside. That's all. Nothing important obviously. Saying it doesn't exist and then saying secret information is indeed passed down is my point. It's not so much the book being real, but the legacy of secrets that we'll never know. I'm not trying to make it complex whatsoever. Honestly if it was all in one book, it couldn't get less complicated.

No kidding. Book or no book, I don't give a shit about "logic" - there's no way of knowing because we aren't Obama. Idiots.

I could see there being multiple journals from various presidents and plenty of secrets, but not conveniently in one book; and the secrets are probably not that titillating.

THE LOCATION IS THE COMBINATION

Really, all I learned from the sequel is that I really want a cool desk that has a secret compartment that you have to unlock using the drawers.
