I am from Manhattan, New York City, but I am from the Lower East Side, the more liberal area of Manhattan, I wouldn't dare step foot on the upper west side or midtown because it is too classy and conservative

I am right now. It is glorious. The mountains to the south, the ocean to the west. There is really not a better place to live.

definetly. i work for a management company, and in one of our buildings, the rent is 3200 a month.
for one bedroom.

wow thats crazy.

and what really kills me is when the tenants get behind in the rent. some owe like 5 digit sums in arrears.
i mean, if you cant afford to keep up with your payments, why rent a pricey apartment?

yeah apartments are ridiculiosly expensive try looking on some college websites in the city alot of them have links for houseing where its pretty cheak and even adds for people looking for apartments. but deff start saving bc food and groceries are super expensive to.

if i were to leave the L.A. and find a place in N.Y., i'd get a place in Williamsburg.

seriously, you are really not going to find a nice house for a good price.

cheapest i can find would be around $2200 a month. Manhattan is pricey. Id say look at Queens or Brooklyn first.

i definitely agree with this. it's still probably gonna be expensive in most areas of brooklyn and queens but not nearly as astronomical as manhattan and you're only a train ride away anyway.

depends on neighborhood. My friend in Astoria pays 880 for a hole in the wall 15 mins from Manhattan. Another friend pays 900 in Flushing, but he "knew somebody". The less reputable parts of Brooklyn can still get you for 500-700.

Honestly, look at home prices and see. For the price of a small townhouse in Flushing, youcould buy a mansion in Scarsdale.
