Its great. I love Bergman, though.

Woody Allen basically remade it as Deconstructing Harry.

Really? I've heard otherwise. What would you recommend from him?

Thinking of watching my first Bergman film tonight. It'll either be this or The Seventh Seal.

Probably my second favorite Bergman. Criterion should be releasing it on Blu-ray this year.

After watching the Phantom Carriage, I can see why Bergy revered Sjostrom so much. Amazing film, and basically predates bergman's essentialist dramas by a good 30 years

Bibi Andersson looked so lovely in this.

Not one of my favorite Bergman pictures, but it is still a seminal piece of art and I found it to be wholly beautiful.

To those saying it's not one of Bergman's best films, what would your top five Bergman films be? Just curious.

Top 5

Persona
Through A Glass Darkly
The Silence
Winterlight
Seventh Seal

(Wild Strawberries)

Faith Trilogy is just amazing. That 10 minute scene of just Ingrid Thulin in the Silence has always left me speechless. Then there's stuff like Fanny, Hour of the Wolf, Passion of Anna....

This is a perfect movie and kicks the ass of Seventh Seal and Fanny and Alexander.

Really loved The Seventh Seal, which I watched last night.

I'm watching Wild Strawberries either tonight or tomorrow night, and then it'll either be Fanny and Alexander or Through a Glass Darkly.

Which version of Fanny are you planning to watch?

Probably the shorter version, tbh.

Cries and Whispers is devastating.

Wild Strawberries
Cries And Whispers
Fanny And Alexander
The Seventh Seal

I've only seen those, and like all of them this far, if you start watching a Bergman movie you can always expect originality and intelligence, no matter fucking what, + the artistic value is also flying in the clouds

Really loved Wild Strawberries.

Will probably watch Through a Glass Darkly tomorrow.
