The Weakerthans

...they are an emo/indie rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and are led by John Sampson (ex-Propaghandi). Theyre pretty big in Canada but seem to be missing from the scene here on AbsolutePunk and theyre a band that definately deserves their due, especially with their song writing, which I think is some of the best out there and overall music ability and creativity.

I made this poll because I was wondering how many people have honestly even heard of them and if you have, do you like/love them, or dont like them?

You should definately check them out if you dont know about them, especially if you like Jimmy Eat World, Maritime, Death Cab and I think even a band like The Early November can draw comparisions to them on some levels.

oh, also for those who don't know them, their song "Aside" was in Wedding Crashers, end credits (if i remember correctly).

haha i feel exactly the same way they just might be my favorite band now that TEN is breaking up, but I wanted to make more general options.

CORRECT. If I remember right, it starts playing at the very end of the movie and spills over into the beginning of the credits. I kinda forgot about that and its a great fact about them.

They're pretty good. And not just because I'm Canadian, I leaned about them when I lived in the states.

I found Left and Leaving, which was the first CD of theirs I owned, here in 2003, when I had some extra money and seen they were with Sub City who reccomended them in their catalouge to "anyone who likes Jimmy Eat World and Jets To Brazil."
But since like '04 Ive only seen their CDs sparatically at indie record shops. I actually bought Fallow and Reconstruction Site while visiting Toronto a couple years ago. I hope when they finally come out with their new release I'll be able to find it here. I only live like 20 minutes away from that shit hole Windsor and 45 away from Sarnia depending on traffic so I can always cross the border to get it if I need to.
