I was very much surprised by Maylene with this cd; it grew on me very quickly and I enjoy its unique sound immensely.

Definitely shocking, I found the songs I heard on their myspace basically unlistenable they were so bad, but to each his own.

I have yet to listen to the new album. I listened to some of the songs on their MySpace and I wasn't digging it too much, but who knows.

I really love this CD and I am glad it is doing well. I can't wait to see Maylene with UnderOATH & AILD in Atlanta.

I love this fucking cd, but 6000 copies is a pretty low number. I thought they were much bigger than that. Shit, Anberlin sold over 10 times that.

Happy for them, it is not as good as the last but still worth buying.

believe it or not, 6000 is a pretty solid number for this album. anberlin appeals to a much bigger crowd and tooth and nail marketing is unstoppable, plus they've been around longer.

ferret has signed some big metal acts lately, they are taking over hardcore. they have in flames, chimaira, poison the well and maylene now, not to mention they still have boys night out and etid.

the band is virtually unknown and their music is not exactly accessible

how can you compare anberlin to Maylene? its a completely different fanbase. Anberlin's genre and type of music appeals to a larger audince then Maylene. Regardless 6000 is a very strong amount of CDs to start off with. I love II, its a great album. Their debut is sick as well. Id recommend them to anybody who likes hardcore/metal...even though its southern metal/hardcore it grows on you. Before you know it you'll be hooked.

Isn't "units" different than actual "copies" of an album.

I'm personally STUNNED that they sold that many copies. If I had to guess this release I'd probably put it at 2700, tops.

Well there's two reasons I can think of for them selling this many albums:

1. "II" is that good.
2. Their vocalist is the original Underoath vocalist, so some Underoath fans are bound to check these guys out cause of that.

Aside from the fact that you bumped this thread almost 3 weeks later... are you serious? #1 is opinion and you think that he (or anyone else interested enough in this band to post on a message board) didn't know that?
