Some record companies are using controlled (http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0330/p11s03-almp.html?page=1) (and sometimes uncontrolled) "leaks" of new music to generate buzz.
"We were seriously considering leaking tracks," Gillespie says of the latest Franz Ferdinand album, "because the watermarks and copy protection were almost doing too good a job."

Oh ok, so does this mean you'll stop suing people for downloading or do you just plan on adding more corruption to the music industry?

damn music industry needs to make up their minds. "doing too good a job", what the fuck, either you want people downloading leaks or you dont.

Why is the music industry such a double standard? We (being the Music Industry) want you to download the music so you can hear it and be a cool kid! And then once the cd comes out we are going to sue you. Hey thanks Music Industry!

people really shouldn't own a leak weeks after an album comes out anyway. if they were all controlled, no one worry.

Then don't bitch when nobody buys your album or "legally" downloads your singles. Temptation is hard to ignore. You wouldn't place six lines of cocaine in front of a coke addict, would you??
