Disagree; while these things are only things that make one happy, like that other kid said before, I also think the things that make one happy are the things that make life worth living. If nobody was ever happy, I'm not sure everybody would make it through the whole life thing. And if they did, I'm willing to bet it'd be pretty shitty.

While I care about my friends and my family, I only think they're reasons to live if you're actually good to them (and vice versa), and if they make you happy. I don't think you should be living for your friends and family; live for yourself and actually be happy.

But for me, it's knowing that I've been putting tons of effort into my music endeavors and feeling like finally, the band I'm in is writing music worth playing live. It reassures me that soon we'll be playing tons of shows again like we were last year, and it doesn't hurt that our songwriting styles really mesh well together now.
