My buddy had a straight-edge tattoo, broke edge and now has 1987-2004 tattooed under it.

Just wondering how many other people are SXE. And if you are then talk about whether you think it's hard in today's society. And if you catch any shit.
hmm, I drink beer on occasion- with my dinner or something. Is it hard not to do drugs? That really depends on what kind of environment you put yourself in. None of my friends do any forms of drugs past cigarettes. But if I only hung out with friends that did coke or pot, then sure I might be more inclined to do it. The bottom line however is that you choose your friends. In my circles I have no desire nor pressure to do drugs, not even smoke. All my friends that smoke are mature enough to not force others to do the same. in fact, they are all angry at themselves for smoking, it's just hard to quit.

In highschool it was different, people were experimenting...when in rome.

I agree with what you're saying, but please refrain from using 'gay' in that way.

that's like saying to your friend "work was retarded today" as he was coincidentally standing next to a retard. It's insensitive but not offensive in my opinion.

Straight edge people are like those Jehova's Witnesses who come to your door and try to convert you. Annoying.

I don't mind Edge kids unless they're pestering me about my choices. I once had an Edge friend break my cigarette. I let it go the first two times, but after the third, I got pissed. Needless to say, I'm not friends with this person anymore.

Fuck that. He clearly was doing it for the image. I would have fucked his shit up, and I dont even smoke.
Another question, do any of you straight edge people refrain from caffeine as well? What about cigarettes? (that last one is dumb but I knew a guy who claimed edge and smoked, so that is why i ask)
Some people abstain from caffiene... or at least when sxe was a super rad thing to do, they did it. My "edge" friends drink it though, on account of it's dumb. And if he smokes cigs, he's not edge. I hate people who try to change the rules just because they want the title.

Peer pressure is harder on some people, I guess.

I claimed "edge" when I was in high school because I was dumb. When I was 19 I had my first drink, and from then til recently I drank maybe 1-3 times a month. Never smoked anything though. Except a few months ago I tried a cigarette, it didn't work out.

This year I decided to stop drinking at all. All of my non-edge friends have gotten really really into weed, and for some reason it just makes it so much easier to give up drinking. I guess because alcohol isn't around as much anymore, and I mean, what am I going to do being the only person drinking.

It would be cool to be able to claim "edge" but I feel like once you break you're not allowed to take the word back.

Anyone else agree or disagree with that last statement? I know it's dumb and it really doesn't matter at my age, but I feel like I don't fit in with my "edge" friends or my non-edge friends. Like, everyone knows I'm not drinking, but they still offer to me. It's annoying and makes it harder.

i hate straight-edge more than anything. not that there's anything wrong with taking the good things out of life if you have a legitimate reason, but every straight-edge kid around here just does it to conform to the scene. fuck them.

Partially agree. My beef, is this. They talk about "respecting" their bodies. Yet they get so militant and violent with those who are not edge and "disrespect" their bodies by kicking the shit out of them. Some, not all, of course. I don't see the need to advertise it.I'm not at shows injecting people with drugs, or force feeding them pills, or giving them beer showers.

Good for you. Its offensive to others whether you believe it or not.

The technicalities say it's pretty much offensive, I myself don't really care, it's just other can get very defensive and angry about it.

Edit: I love that smily.

I have a question for straight edge people. Have you previously done drugs/drank alcohol and didn't like it? Or have you just never? If so, aren't you curious what a hit of marijuana feels like?
