Haha, as much as I do like Fall Out Boy, it is kind of funny they'd put Pete up there. I mean, Pete's really never proven that he's a quality musician. Like if he all of a sudden busted out some Cliff Burton note for note, I'd be really surprised, but yeah. Bass Guitar is just trying to sell copies of their magazine, cause no one cares about the magazine. Plenty of people won't even know it exists till they see Wentz on the cover.

he can;t even play his own songs which are incredibly simple on time. How can you call that professional?
pete's lyrics > pete's bass-playing abilities.
thehammer
04/02/07, 03:15 PM
to the kid saying "how do you know he's not good..blah blah...you haven't seen him play anything else besides fall out boy"
3 reasons:
1) he can't even play fall out boy songs
2) anyone who even has any inkling of how to play bass knows you don't strum it like a guitar (unless you're playing chords....which most bass players rarely do)
3) you also don't strum the neck of the bass...but in his case..maybe he thinks that's where the best tone comes from ;-)

so true. i've seen em live 3 times, and i remember thinking he spins, prances, and runs his mouth a lot more than he plays his bass. and 9 times out of 10, he is strumming his bass like a guitar, as opposed to actually playing bass lines.
jeph should be on the cover.

Just because his bass lines arent very complex doesnt neccesarily mean he is a bad bassist. You don't always need complex bass lines to make good catchy music. Anyway I can't stand the way he plays his bass, it's like he is strumming a guitar

Mmkay. Love FOB, but Pete is by no means a great bassist. He plays it like a guitar, when he plays. He is a good lyricist, I'll give him that. To whoever asked "how can we say he's not good?" It's pretty easy. Pete isn't good. Just because someone does something professionally doesn't make them good at it.
This is really just an attempt at this mag to attract customers. They probably know Pete can't play too. I mean, how many people on this thread knew about this mag beforehand?
It's also good to know I'm not the only one who fails to hear a bass line in most of their songs.

Fender is a company thats very prestegious, so getting an indorsement deal through them is really hard unless you're a master of your instrument.
Pretty much its a good marketing ploy by Fender (squire more specifcally). people are buying squires now by choice, not just because they're first starting off and buy the amp/bass package.
