NL MVP: David Wright
AL Cy Young: Johan Santana
NL Cy Young: Freddy Garcia

As you can see Im making some risky picks.
I think the AL Central is going to be so close, everyone will be knocking eachother out all year and the division winner will only win 90 to 95 games.
Im picking the Blue Jays to be the surprise team this year and leap over the Yankees and edging out the Indians or Twins, steal the wild card, I know alot of people will think Im nuts for saying this, but why not.
If Garcias arm problems dont bother him through out the year I think he'll have fun in the NL, with less power hitting and the best power hitter in the NL being on his team. Going to the NL was a good deal for him and I think he'll prosper.
I know Wright is young, extremely young to be in mvp talk, but his numbers are getting up there the past couple seasons, hes an absolute stud and once again, why not?

I hate to pick the Tigers to win the world series because I feel like a. A homer, b. I'll jinx them. But I can see their pitching managing to hold up, especially Maroth who is like an addition because he basically missed all of last year, Rogers will be fine and even if hes not, we'll be ok. The only thing standing in their way is a mentally shakey (Jones, Rodney) bullpen, and Craig Monroes flailing bat, I know it was only the opening game but he has a prior history of wasting his power on chasing garbage or swinging under good pitches.

for the people picking the Marlins 4th and 5th in the NL East, i'm pretty sure that you are going to be surprised

the only reason they'll finish 4th is because of the division they're in. it's not that we think they're a bad team it's just their division. they're the Blue Jays of the NL.

That's a stretch. I know we have a shitty rotation, but by season's end we'll have gotten another pitcher. I really can't see the Mets finishing behind the Marlins at all. Maybe the Braves and Phillies, but definitely not the Marlins.

michael young? are we serious?

I was just trying to throw someone different in there. If m. young has a season on par or better than any of his last 3 seasons and Texas surprises people this year(see AL west prediction) there's no reason he wouldn't at least be considered.

thejetstolehome

Haha. This might not be far off (even if it was fantasy motivated). Too bad he plays on a terrible team and will only get like 10 wins this year because of it. Plus he needs to work on giving up less home runs this year. He looked really good last night though.

for the people picking the Marlins 4th and 5th in the NL East, i'm pretty sure that you are going to be surprised

i'm picking them 4th because of, like matt said, the division ..and the fact that they are too young in the rotation and a few arms are probably going to break down (johnson is just the 1st).

but if the marlins finish higher than 3rd, then miggy is probably your MVP.

i predict if the sox get swept by the royals i will drink a bottle of jameson to my face

Times like these make me want to break out my favorite McCarver comment ever.

At one point during a broadcast, Buck says something to the effect "He's on pace to hit 50 home runs this year". McCarver replies with the classic "Yea well I'm on pace to live forever". I hate him...

Wow, my predictions are a whole lot of goofy. I didn't want to pick all the same stuff most people were going to.
Hahaha. My picks were a 'whole lot of goofy'. But I didn't see the Mets rotation being this good to start the year. I thought for sure they'd be in a hole right now around .500. Proved me wrong, I suppose.

World Series:
Yankees over Mets

AL MVP: Travis Hafner
NL MVP: Albert Pujols
AL Cy Young: Johan Santana
NL Cy Young: Carlos ZambranoI'd probably have to change my world series vote. Right now I'd guess Red Sox over Mets. My MVP picks were totally off, and the Cy Youngs weren't too great either.

Once again my predictions sucked. I need to stop doubting the Yankees.

okay--Chris and i did homer picks...but THAT'S a homer pick.

that was talking about the cubs winning the division..and well winning it all, but i think that could honestly happen.

was there another prediction thread? i remember arguing the cubs's side a lot at the start of the year and it's not in here.

i wish i would have made predictions so that i could see how bad they would have been

but it's interesting to see how much things are different than the way they looked in april

Michael Cuddyer won't even have 100 RBIs this season.
Called it! He's at 81 right now.

you all must be huffin some pretty serious shit if you think the philles will finish ahead of the mets

for the people picking the Marlins 4th and 5th in the NL East, i'm pretty sure that you are going to be surprised

These are my favorites.

here are mine:

okay--Chris and i did homer picks...but THAT'S a homer pick.

(referring to the cubs winning the division)

nothing, just asking.

but the rangers will finish ahead of the halos.

my two somewhat bold predictions:

-the brew crew will win the NL pennant.
-rich harden will win the AL cy young.

My picks sucked.

Dodgers and A's completely let me down. I think I picked cincy to win the nl central, lol.
